I’m officially adding this to my “must-try Austrian desserts” list! 📍Cafe Diglas 1010 Vienna The scheiterhaufen was delicious - moist and with a nice slightly spiced, nutty flavor. The meringue was super sweet, which made it hard to eat more than a few bites. Because of this I’d recommend sharing it with at least one other person. The only downside was the host at the cafe was really grumpy, ev...

Reviews Summary

Café Diglas im Schottenstift offers a charming atmosphere and traditional Viennese dishes, with many praising the delicious desserts and schnitzel. However, some patrons have noted issues with uncomfortable seating and unexpected charges for tap water, alongside occasional slow or rude service.

"We visited Café Diglas 6 years ago and today we returned for a late lunch. It was as good as 6 years ago. I had the autumn bowl with shrimp and it was delicious.
For dessert we had traditional chocolate cake and cream cheese strudel. Highly recommended."

David Orellana

"Dear fellow tourists - watch out for Cafe Diglas charging you a mere €7 or more for tap water, I repeat, tap water. We order a strudel and a coffee which totalled no more than € 16, with the final bill coming up to €24.. all because we asked for tap water for two people. When we questioned it, the waiter indicated that it's in the menus fine print, or finnest I would dare say, and it was not mentioned to us at the time of the order. So basically you get severely exploited and have to pay for tap water the same price as you would for mineral or sparkling bottled water from the world's best springs. Poor customer service and treatment sadly."

Anna Kotsaki

"Dined here alone, I waited for around 10 mins for a table in Saturday evening. The scrambled pancake was scrumptious, generous portion. Service is good. 😊"
