What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Am Nordpol 3 is celebrated for its authentic, heartwarming Bohemian-Viennese cuisine and friendly, local atmosphere. Diners consistently praise the delicious traditional dishes and the value for money. While the quirky decor might not be for everyone, it adds to the unique charm. Service is noted as sincere and welcoming, though not always overtly attentive, which seems to be a common aspect of Viennese dining.
"Great food, nice friendly local family oriented spot. I had the smoked sausage and the goulash. Both excellent. Well worth the trip slightly away from the centre."

"From the moment we arrived at Am Nordpol 3, the entire team was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I was craving authentic Austrian cuisine, and they were very attentive in recommending classic dishes.
Our food arrived quickly, perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of salt, and every bite was genuinely delicious. They also suggested the ideal local beer to pair with our meal. The prices were very reasonable for the quality and portion size.
I loved it so much that, despite only being in Vienna for four days, I returned with a colleague so they could experience it too. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great traditional fare and outstanding service!"

"Fantastic food. Everything on the menu is typical austrian cuisine so you can't go wrong if you are overwhelmed with choices. Great environment, and not touristy at all. Also, the best sauerkraut I have ever tasted."

13 of My Favorite Schnitzel & Traditional Restaurants In Vienna
Even by Central European standards, the food of Bohemia – in today’s Czech Republic – is carbs-heavy, which is another way of saying that it is delicious. Am Nordpol 3, located by Vienna’s Augarten in District 2, is a neighborhood restaurant specializing in the knödel-forward dishes of this former Habsburg crown land. Adventurous eaters might opt for an all-dumpling meal: liver dumpling soup followed by meat-and-pork-crackling-filled dumplings with mixed sauerkraut on the side, and potato dumplings with sugary poppy seeds to finish.

We did, however, have an amazing, long, and late lunch at Am Nordpol, where we disgusted delighted our lovely server Astrid by ordering way too much food, finishing it all, then ordering dessert. Their roast pork with sauerkraut was outstanding saurkraut and Jack finally got the käsekrainer. Also called Eitriger, or ‘pus-stick’, this unfortunately named delicacy is a pork and molten cheese sausage.
8 of the best Schnitzel in Vienna
Although the name may suggest it, you don’t have to dress particularly warm for this one, nor will your Schnitzel be made of reindeer (excuse us for this rather poor introduction, we just couldn’t help ourselves). With a cool Schanigarten and an indoor restaurant that looks more like the living room of an antique collector, this is for sure a special Schnitzel place.

This is a lively spot with an energetic ambience and unique art pieces adorning the walls. It's a popular choice among students for its reasonably priced drinks, with beer and schnapps being the crowd favourites. The restaurant is particularly known for its delectable sausage and dumplings.

Another great place for goulash, particularly erdäpfelgulasch, aka potato goulash, is Am Nordpol 3, located on an unassuming street in the 2nd district. “I love the potato goulash at Nordpol. It’s almost as good as my mother’s,” says Ivic.
