Arguably the city's best pizza can be had when entering a non-descript entrance on Franz-Josef-Straße south of Paris-Lodron-Straße: Here you find a place boringly dubbed Organic Pizza Salzburg, and this is exactly what it is: A totally unpretentious venue serving glorious 100% organic pizza in vegetarian, vegan and omnivore varieties, all well worth their 9.80 to 16.80 EUR. Instead of the standard base made from wheat you may order one made with spelt. Choose your drinks from the fridge (most, but not all organic), and have a home-made organic and vegan cake with fairly traded ingredients and/or a locally produced ice-cream to end your meal.

Keimling is a vegetarian cafe offering just that, in addition to healthy warm meals during parts of the day in addition to various organic products for sale. It’s a tiiiiiny cafe that sits only six people or so.

Moving onto desserts, we loved the organic sheep milk ice cream at Eisl Eis. The flavour is a little bit different at first, but once you get used to it, it’s really tasty. For delicious cakes, hot chocolate and Mozart Balls (Mozartkugel), we enjoyed Schatz Konditorei.

Organic Pizza Salzburg serves meat and vegetarian options, and there are three vegan pizzas on the menu. The vegan pizzas come with vegan cheese and vegetable toppings. You have a choice of wheat crust or spelt crust with hemp seeds.
