On Sunday, March 4, 2012, the Longboard Bar & Grill in Townsville, North Queensland, officially opened for business. It is a beach, beer, and surf-themed bar and grill with 250 seats. Longboard is positioned atop the Headland of the Strand, which faces Cleveland Bay and Magnetic Island.

We particularly liked the views from Longboard Bar and Grill and C-Bar. The Watermark and Anelay rooftop across the road can be good choices too. Surf Clubs are often an excellent option to eat with sea views in Australia, and Townsville Surf Club seems to be open for breakfast.

Longboard Bar & Grill is a laid-back Strand favourite perched right on the water. The menu combines Tex-Mex, American-Mexican fusion, and classic pub fare. Expect tacos, signature buffalo wings, burgers with waffle fries, and sides like Mexican mozzarella sticks.

A must-visit bar for views, beers, mojitos and awesome finger food is Longboard’s on The Strand. Very American in flavour, Longboard’s is a place we hope to return to. We haven’t had buffalo wings as good since we lived in the States.
