Sitting pretty on a corner in Noosa Junction, the modern Asian eatery has become a fast favourite for its playful approach to hospitality. Think shamelessly indulgent share plates served under sexy low lighting with a disco-heavy soundtrack. You could start with bao buns, loaded with spicy Korean fried chicken, caramelised pork belly, panko crumbed fish or eggplant katsu.

Over the past few years, Light Years has become such a popular establishment that the team behind it now boast multiple venues dotted around Australia’s East Coast. What started in Byron Bay is now a growing empire for the Asian inspired eatery, speaking strongly for Executive Chef Robbie Oijvall’s beautifully curated and experimental menu. The inspiration isn’t just tied to one country here, showing a broad scope with dishes like a turmeric & coconut fish curry with kaffir lime, snake beans, and herbs, and beef cheek rendang slow braised in coconut and lemongrass.

In Noosa Junction, Mr Drifter is a vibrant restaurant blending Asian street food with cocktail culture, while Light Years provides a lively atmosphere with modern Asian and Chinese fusion dishes amidst leopard print wallpaper and local art. For a more casual dining experience, A Taste of Spice offers a mix of Thai, Malaysian, and Chinese cuisine, featuring signature dishes like Singapore noodles, seafood laksa, and lime chicken. Sushi enthusiasts can indulge in fresh and delicious options at Sushi Yah-Man and Embassy XO.

Light Years is probably the most popular restaurant in Noosa Junction (bookings recommended) with its casual, funky atmosphere, tasty Asian-fusion menu, and unique cocktails. While the food is share plates, most of the dishes are much larger than we expected so we ordered way too much food the first time. On our second visit, we shared the eggplant katsu bao buns (a highlight), a turmeric and coconut cauliflower curry, rice, and their pickle plate (a must for pickle fans).

Known for its contemporary twist on Asian cuisine, this trendy restaurant in Noosa Junction has multiple locations nationwide, including Burleigh Heads, Byron Bay, and Newcastle. At the Noosa outpost, you’ll be welcomed with a laid-back and beach-inspired atmosphere, which adds to the overall relaxing ambience, making it a perfect spot for a memorable holiday meal. Popular dishes include kingfish ceviche and spicy mee goreng firecracker chicken.

If you were to Google “cool”, we reckon Light Years would be right there beside it. Already loved in Burleigh and Byron Bay, Light Years Noosa is a modern and distinctly upbeat Asian diner that’s sure to work its way into your heart, and most certainly your social life. It features a colourful leapord-print wall feature, velvety chairs, tropical fiesta pops and dark navy walls.

Originating in Byron Bay, Light Years now has four restaurants across the East Coast of Australia. The relaxed, modern eatery serves flavour-packed Asian-inspired share plates, inventive cocktails and jazzy interiors. With dumplings, bao, curries and larger plates all up for grabs, it's best to opt for one of the 'feed me' menus for a sample of Light Years' punchy offering.

Light Years is the latest Asian dining spot to hit the town. The venue boasts a lively atmosphere with leopard print wallpaper and local art, making it the perfect place to meet friends for cocktails and bites. With LED lighting and comfortable booth seating, diners can sit back and relax while enjoying plates such as steamed Hervey Bay scallops with ginger and shallots.

I haven’t been to Light Years but it is consistently ranked as one of the best restaurants in Noosa. This is an Asian fusion restaurant with plenty of options for gluten free and vegetarian/vegan diets. At the time of writing, Light Years is open from 4.45pm-9pm Monday to Thursday and 12pm-9pm Friday to Sunday.

Light Years absolutely, without a doubt, 100% tops our list for the best spot to eat in Noosa!. Light Years does Asian fusion to perfection!. Bao buns, fried chicken, peking duck pancakes, crispy pork belly and a range of delicious vegan options are just some of the menu items on offer.

The northernmost outpost for the popular Asian dining group dishes up flavour-packing share plates like DIY duck pancakes and katsu bao in jungle-inspired surrounds. Cocktails are a vibe here – go for the Ribena-inspired number spiked with yuzu and don't look back.

Came here 1 year ago and it was the best gluten free pizza I had ever had EVER. I was so excited to come to Noosa to have it again but it turned out to be entirely different. Gluten free pizza base downgraded to any other average restaurant.

Turn away from the Main Beach and head up Noosa Hill to the town’s bustling business district, Noosa Junction (aka “The Junga”), a hot spot for lively spots such as Light Years, Somedays Pizza and Sabrosa Dim Sum House.

As shown above, Noosa does Asian fusion really well, and Light Years is no exception. This place nails the vibe with funky wallpaper, neon signs, leafy plants. Total jungle-core energy.
