What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Rustica Newcastle Beach is praised for its stunning beach views, vibrant atmosphere, and delicious Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, with many highlighting the generous portions and good value. However, some diners have noted issues with slow or rude service, and occasional inconsistencies in dish flavor. Despite minor service hiccups, the overall experience is highly recommended for food and ambiance.
"Outstanding flavours, personable service, amazing ingredient combinations and well priced. Tried both small entrees and fish as main and Belgian fondant for dessert. You’d better be careful that your chef does not get snapped up by a top Sydney restaurant. He’d fit right in, I found the food to be THAT good last night. Congrats to all involved."

"We had a lovely experience for my Birthday dinner. Everything was cooked beautifully and looked amazing. We got the banquet menu with the added supplements and a few cocktails and it was alot of food so good value for money. The restaurant has a very good vibe with a guitar player and an amazing few. I would reccomend this restaurant to anyone wanting great food with an amazing few."

"Here's my review for Rustica restaurant.
To Start:
*Garlic prawn pots Provencale
*Zucchini flower fritti filled with ricotta
For Main:
*Mafaldine pasta tossed with prawns and calamari
*Daily special of a scotch fillet, salad and chips. (Unfortunately the Ranges Valley 280gm “Black Onyx” sirloin was not available)
The Good:
*The steak was tender and full of flavour
*Meals arrived quickly, likely helped by the early dinner time and relaxed atmosphere
*Wait staff were friendly and professional
*Nicely styled restaurant with a dark timber theme and a nice renaissance mural painted on the wall
The Bad:
*The Zucchini flower looked good but unfortunately did not have much flavour and was a bit too oily
*Garlic prawn pots Provencale was more oil flavour than tomatoes and garlic
Overall:
Not the best Italian food I’ve had, but far from the worst. A decent experience with the standout being the steak and service."

Next to the Novotel, in a prime position overlooking Newcastle Beach, Rustica restaurant is an enjoyable slice of Mediterranean style and flavour in the city centre. Rustica's decor is so classically Hispanic, with wine barrels and lanterns hanging from the ceiling, that you'll be tempted to call for castanets rather than cutlery, and a guitarist adds a flamenco soundtrack in the evening. The food is trans-Mediterranean with a hint of Morrocan spice and includes tapas, mains like Fennel roasted pork belly with Italian sausage and irresistible shared plates like Braised "kleftico'' lamb shoulder with oregano potatoes.
