Reviews Summary

Peregrin is celebrated for its stunning ocean views and perfectly cooked dishes, particularly steaks and seafood. While the ambiance and presentation receive high praise, some diners note inconsistencies in service when busy and occasional blandness in set menus. Overall, it's recommended for its elevated dining experience and beautiful setting, though individual dishes may vary in their impact.

"Food was absolutely stunning!! Entrees came out fast and were amazing, drinks were fast flowing and very tasty.
The 350gram Scotch fillet was cooked perfect medium rare and the free range chicken breast was moist and delicious.
Service and atmosphere were awesome and the deck view was beautiful to have a couple drinks on after dining in.
Price was very good considering the number of entrees, mains and drinks that were ordered.
Would highly recommend this place.
We will be coming back!!
Thank you"

"The restaurant was a bit hard to find from the street. It actually locates upstairs of the beach club. It was busy when we got there. We ordered the sourdough, salad, the express lunch, and the fish of the day. The service was good at the start, however when it got busier later on, so our drink from the express lunch menu was forgotten and we have to ask the waiter for it. Also the express lunch was not on the normal menu that we have to ask the waiter to find out for us. The location and the atmosphere of the restaurant were good with beautiful ocean view. The food was generous and delicious, especially the salad looked very colorful."

"A classic fine dining experience with some of the best food I have had in Newcastle. The chefs mastering the art of combining unique and multi-faceted flavours amongst all dishes, with a special mention to the amazing seafood and steaks! Table service was timely and smooth, and the atmosphere was bustling and positive. Overall, an excellent experience in every aspect."

Where To Eat, Drink & Stay

Choose from coastal fine-diner Peregrin, classic pub grub in The Beach Hotel’s main dining area, or swing by Larrie’s post-swim for old-school eats. Water views meet lamp-laden, moody décor at local favourite Mediterranean restaurant, Rustica Newcastle Beach. If you want to literally feel the ocean spray over your pre-dinner cocktails, Merewether Surfhouse is wedged between the cliffs and the sand, and you won’t go hungry with a variety of pizzas and other Italian dishes on offer.

The 5 Best New Cafés, Bars and Restaurants in Newcastle

Anyone who knows Newcastle even a little bit knows that Merewether’s The Beach Hotel is an institution of the city’s food, drink and nightlife scenes. But, after having recently undergone a large-scale renovation, The Beaches, as it’s colloquially known, is now an entire cultural hub, offering a dining experience that has something for everyone. While the first floor of the hotel is an upgraded version of the venue locals know and love, heading upstairs opens up an entirely new, fine-dining experience.
