Reviews Summary

Lucy Liu Kitchen and Bar is celebrated for its vibrant Asian fusion cuisine, offering bold flavors and an interactive dining experience. Diners love the lively atmosphere, creative cocktails, and the opportunity to sample numerous dishes. While many praise the efficient and friendly service, some have noted minor issues with attentiveness or plate clearing during busy periods.

"Put simply, I would start by saying that flavour is the focus above all else. The dishes were super fresh, and there was variety in each one! Their unique takes on classic cocktails was also very enjoyable if you are fancying one.

Standout dish ultimately for us was the Nam Khao Tod Salad. Loads of textures, lots of freshness, and pure flavour bomb in this dish. I imagine not going to be the first thing people think to order, but get this on the side, you won't be disappointed!

Small thing too, but the rice was well nice! Can't beat a decent bowl of rice.

Truthfully, the only points dropped for me were in the service. It started very very well, very accommodating of us being walk-ins and very prompt service. However, it seemingly deteriorated a little as one of our dishes had to be requested as it was forgotten about. The server also then proceeded to take plates the second they were emptied, as in taking mine whilst my partner was still eating. Also, taking my partners plate when she still had food on the fork... Such a pet peeve
Not going to stop us from going back, but the plate can wait 30 seconds mate!

Should go, get the Nam Khao Tod, eat quick so your plate isn't taken whilst there's food still on it, and enjoy!"

"Had a great time at Lucy Liu! The place has such a fun vibe – lively, modern, and perfect for sharing plates with friends. The service was quick and friendly, and the food came out fresh and full of flavour. Everything we tried was tasty and well put together.
Definitely a spot I’d come back to for a casual night out or if I’m craving bold Asian-inspired dishes."

"Amazing dining experience!I was seated in front of their open kitchen, where the chefs make food right in front of you. It's as if I was in an episode of "Hell's Kitchen" (minus the shouting from Gordon Ramsay). Lucy herself was there as the Head Chef, she was very gentle with her employees in the kitchen, which is refreshing to see. Everything was orderly and organized, the food was amazing, especially their fried rice! Book ahead!"

Where to take your parents to dinner

Unless your dad is Christopher Walken from Blast From the Past, recently emerged from 35 years in his purpose-built nuclear bunker, he’s probably tried pan-Asian cuisine. But there’s an energy to this high-voltage operation and a sweet/salty/spicy boldness of chef Michael Lambie’s Southeast Asian flavours that are bound to thrill the parentals. Unlike many Flinders Lane eateries, you can book, too.

Allergy Friendly Restaurants Melbourne | feel good eating

Like Gingerboy, Lucy Liu is an Asian restaurant, so the chance of dishes containing nuts is quite high. I also took a bit of a gamble by just rocking up on their doorstep one weekend for lunch with no booking and no prior warning that I had food allergies. But this was no issue – Lucy Liu has a separate menu printed that outlines which menu items are suitable for different food allergies.
