What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Prickly Cactus receives praise for its authentic and flavorful Mexican cuisine, warm atmosphere, and friendly staff, making it a standout dining spot. While many enjoy the generous portions and unique dishes, some reviews mention disappointment with specific items like the corn chips or a lack of flavor in certain dishes, alongside occasional issues with food temperature or availability.
"When I visited Launceston, I dined at The Prickly Cactus, a cozy Mexican restaurant. I tried their mixed chicken and beef fajitas, and I truly enjoyed the dish—it felt authentic and flavorful. The chicken was particularly well-marinated, with a subtle hint of star anise that elevated the taste. If I visit Launceston again, I would love to return and explore more of their authentic Mexican food offerings. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and generous with their service, while the atmosphere felt warm and genuine."

"This restaurant was recommend to me. And it was a good experience. The staff were great. They did allow for menu changes which was great. For my Burrito bowl I was a little disappointed in the corn chips as they are slivers as illustrated in the photo. They didn’t taste that great in my opinion.
Overall though our meals were great."

"Our dinner at The Prickly Cactus was without a doubt the best meal we had on our recent trip to launceston.
We started with the catcus bread (basically a tortilla pizza) and it was amazing, I wanted to order another one right away.
My husband had the beef burrito for his main which he said was really good. I ordered the chicken chimichanga and it's quite possibly the best one that I've ever had.
If we are ever back in Launceston we will without a doubt be going there again!"
