Reviews Summary

Emily Taylor Bar & Kitchen is celebrated for its exceptional Asian fusion cuisine, with many diners praising the unique flavor combinations and the quality of dishes like the lobster dumplings and Peking duck. The ambiance is often described as trendy and pleasant, and the service is highlighted as friendly and exceptional by many. However, some reviewers noted occasional slow service and issues with food temperature.

"A truly special 5-star experience at Emily Taylor's!
My husband and I recently celebrated his 40th birthday at Emily Taylor's, and it was an absolutely lovely experience from start to finish. We had high expectations, and they were certainly exceeded!
The food was, without a doubt, delicious – every dish was a delight. The drinks were just as impressive, perfectly complementing our meal.
However, what truly made our night unforgettable was the exceptional service we received from our waitress. She was incredibly friendly and attentive, going above and beyond to make the occasion special. My husband was even presented with a complimentary glass of bubbly upon arrival, a lovely touch that set the tone for the evening.
To top it all off, dessert arrived with a birthday candle, and our wonderful waitress even sang "Happy Birthday." These thoughtful gestures made my husband's 40th birthday truly memorable and special.
Thank you, Emily Taylor's, and especially to our fantastic waitress, for an incredible dining experience. We highly recommend it!"

"went here on a Tuesday night and was stilll busy after 6pm so would just recommend booking especially on a weekend! The cocktails were lovely. Food was so good as well. $120 for 5 dishes but the potions are big ended up taking some home. Service was just a little slow throughout and once we wanted the bill had to wait a while to be seen then eventually got up and just paid at the hostess point ourselves."

"I took my partner here for our anniversary lunch and I am so glad I did.
Not only was the food so delicious but the service we received was incredible.
All the staff were lovely especially Pietro.
He had the biggest smile on his face always and was really funny. Made the whole experience fun and special.
Highly recommend this place for amazing food and exceptional service.
10/10"

Five New Bars and Restaurants (and One Hotel) to Seek Out in Fremantle

A new bar tucked behind the Fremantle Markets, Emily Taylor is named after a 19th-century ship that brought Asian spices to Fremantle before being wrecked off the coast of Perth. Under executive chef Aldren Teo, the kitchen taps into this heritage – mixing Southeast Asian flavours with uniquely West Australian produce. Try the lobster dumplings infused with Manjimup truffle (“a modern twist on traditional hakau Cantonese dumplings”, says Teo); roast duck brushed in local bush honey and plattered with mandarin pancakes; Geraldton kingfish ceviche cured in a sweet-chilli coconut water; or charred Stirling Ranges beef ribs paired with crunchy sambal matah.

The Best Perth Restaurants | 2025

Named after a 19th-century ship that once sailed the spice routes between Southeast Asia and Fremantle, the venue pays homage to the port city’s maritime past, with bold, spice-driven share plates and cocktails that pack a punch. There are dozens of delicious dishes, but according to Director of Hospitality Tim Buckton, the must-tries are “the peking duck, lobster dumplings, lamb ribs, and of course, our incredible curries. Each dish showcases the bold, vibrant flavours we’re known for, with a careful balance of spice, texture, and presentation that makes them crowd favourites.

Top Ten Guide: Perth’s Best Asian Fusion Restaurants

When it comes to Fremantle dining, the vibrant, courtyard bar and restaurant, Emily Taylor should be at the top of your foodie bucket list. The Asian fusion cult favourite was named after a ship that sailed from England to Fremantle, stopping through Asia to pick up tea, spices, and likely, opium, in the 1800s. Perched right next door to the Fremantle Markets, you can expect everything from roast duck and gin cocktails to spiced bites and aromatic fish with fresh herbs.

Emily Taylor Restaurant & Bar Review

Aptly named after a ship that set sailed from England (carrying Asian spices and tea) to Fremantle in the eighteen hundreds, Emily Taylor is a new-ish Asian fusion restaurant and bar located in the heart of Freo. Being an extension of the Warders Hotel, a boutique hotel in the old limestone cottage that once housed the Fremantle Warders, it pays homage to Fremantle’s rich historical past whilst delighting many with its vibrant food and drinks.

I’m going to say yes because I feel as though excluding Emily Taylor would be a huge disservice to the GF community!. They’re open from 9am on Saturday and Sunday and this is to offer a yum cha menu which includes, you guessed it, gluten-free dumplings!. A few non-dumpling dishes are also available as GF options but the most exciting offering at Emily Taylor has to be their famous lobster and truffle dumplings.

Fremantle's hidden haunts & hangouts

It’s Friday evening when I sample lobster-filled dumplings and crispy spring rolls at Emily Taylor. This buzzy bar and kitchen, part of the Warders Hotel, honours its two-fold namesake: a sailing ship named after the wife of the builder who transported spices between South-East Asia and Fremantle at a time when Aussie food was known to be rather bland. But nothing about Emily Taylor is dull.
