For more than a decade, Kopi Stop has been serving up comforting breakfasts made using recipes passed down through generations.

It might not look much from the outside, just a simple hole-in-the-wall. But there's a reason why there's always a queue snaking down the street. Kopi Stop is often seen as one of the most superior coffee spots in Darwin.

The lovely, well-lit space is perfect for settling yourself in and studying, but beware – you might find yourself distracted by the smell of the delicious Singaporean food coming out of the kitchen…. Presenting a Southeast Asian twist on your breakfast, Kopi Stop is another example of Darwin’s culinary diversity. You’ll find some of your favourites on the menu, but it’s the perfect chance to switch up your morning ritual. Rather than your classic latte, settle in for a Singapore kopitiam-style coffee that’s served with condensed milk.

If you are just after a quick coffee fix then try the Boatshed Coffee House, Kopi Stop or Laneway Specialty Coffee (near Parap markets) for a great brew and relaxed vibe. If after dark drinks, or even late afternoon, are on the agenda then head to The Trader Bar, Deck Bar or the trendy Smith Street Social.

Among the most controversial is a Basque burnt cheesecake at Kopi Stop. Its Singaporean creator Jules Mou has strong laksa credentials; her traditional bowl is an undeniable hit and this year, it won People's Choice, but she also wanted to plate up something unique.

Kopi Stop offers a wonderful assortment of coffee with some of the best latte art that can be found in our city. Fun fact: Kopi is a common term used in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia for coffee.

I visited Kopi stop for the first time recently, they make a good brew. Also try grabbing beans from Ruby G's, they supply Veneziano. Also D-Town Roasters also have great beans.
