What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Raku garners high praise for its fresh, artfully prepared Japanese cuisine, particularly its sashimi and sushi, served in a refined yet welcoming atmosphere. While many celebrate the exceptional food quality and attentive service, some diners have noted a perceived decrease in portion sizes or a rushed dining experience compared to past visits, alongside concerns about menu cleanliness. However, the overall consensus points to Raku being a top-tier dining destination worth the splurge for a memorable culinary journey.
"Food was delicious and consistent fantastic. Waitresses were incredibly helpful however when we arrived Thursday night we were greeted by a gentleman who was very impatient which felt rude. All in all didn't ruin our experience and the atmosphere is always good. Not too loud with great food."

"Everywhere else was quiet so we hadn't bothered to book, luckily we got a table as it was soon full. The staff were professional and welcoming and had us seated overlooking the prep kitchen which was entertaining. Both the drinks and food menu were extensive. The expres lunch looked great value and was tempting however we decided to make our own selection which we washed down with a cocktail followed by warm Sake. Everything was wonderful and we couldn't pick a winner."

"Raku is easily one of the best dining spots in Canberra. The service was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel effortless. The oysters were a real standout—super fresh and perfectly prepared. The sashimi was delicate and flavoured, and the nigiri was some of the best I’ve had. Everything came out beautifully presented without feeling fussy. An excellent spot for a special night out, and I’ll definitely be back."

Deep-fried eggplant with red and white miso is a favourite dish - half an eggplant chopped lengthways, cooked super soft and topped half with white miso and half with red.
