"I finally got to checking out herve's in Albion in March.
It didn't disappoint.
Located on top of a brewery and bar. Entry at the back, go up a staircase, and you're stepping into a beautiful appointed restaurant.
As you would expect from a classic French restaurant service was on point, glasses always topped up and complimentary bread with butter.
Starting off the meal with a glass of Perrier Jouet grand brut and jamon croquettes. Beautiful start to a meal with a glass of champagne.
Followed by sandcrab souffle, light fluffy and moreish.
Mains was an excellent cooked fish with a side of beans. The sauce with the fish was so good I almost licked the plate!
Selection of cheese and then dessert was amazing chocolate, and mandarin pairs well.
Would definitely go back. Service is polished and friendly.

UPDATE July visit

Update decided to come back in July and try the new menu.
Starting off with jamon croquettes again and a glass of champagne while looking at the new menu and wine list.

The menu and wine list seems to change very regularly, allowing guests to explore different things each visit.
Settled for a bottle of cobaw ridge pinot noir.

Entree was a hard choice but decided on the Tasmanian lobster risotto. The risotto was cooked perfectly with tender grains of rice with large chunks of lobster.
Main dish was Duck both breast and confit leg with parsnip. I love duck so can't fault the dish was nice tasting and cooked very well. Enjoyed with a side of carrots

Dessert I opted for the special of basque cheesecake with berries and sorbet. Definitely very nice rich creamy texture.
Finished off with a glass of sweet dessert wine.
I was alittle disappointed no chocolate option on the dessert menu

It was a busy Saturday night, and on talking to some of the staff, they said they were a bit understaffed. This i understand can happen, but the service was a huge different from last time and didn't really reflect the premium experience and price point. I did chat with the sommelier, and he was great each time he came over to the table.

Will maybe wait a while before I return so service levels can hopefully get a bit better"

"The greatest thing I’ve ever eaten is the Crab Soufflé from Hervé’s. Exquisite. Service was lovely, atmosphere was gorgeous, food was incredible. Top rate dishes: duck, gnocchi, crab soufflé, bread and butter. That butter was divine. I did not like the pineapple tarte tatin though. My feedback to them would be to update the menu to say that it’s topped in a chocolate sauce. Had I known this dessert would be smothered in chocolate I never would have ordered it. Pineapple and chocolate is not a pairing I would recommended. Also, it didn’t seem like a tatin, more like a pastry, that was topped with a warm piece of pineapple, then covered in chocolate sauce. The pineapple piece could just be lifted up off the pastry, it wasn’t caramelised and cooked into the pastry like other tarte tatins. I would have loved to try one of the other delicious sounding desserts on the menu had it been clear that it was chocolatey.

I would absolutely go back here for the food and also recommend it to others. Particularly the bread and butter and crab soufflé!!"

Best romantic restaurants in Brisbane

Upstairs at Craft’d Grounds, the former timber mill turned hospitality hub, Herve’s menu begins with puffed potato topped with caviar, cheesy choux pastry balls, baked Flinders Island scallops or duck and foie gras pate. The main course line-up boasts a cold seafood platter and options such as Moreton Bay bug or Murray cod; succulent pork with native spices, roast pumpkin, lentil and pomegranate jus; perhaps a perfectly cooked Black Angus tenderloin or a 1kg wagyu T-bone. A standout is the ravioli of western rock lobster, with caviar an optional extra.
