What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hellenika at The Calile is praised for its exceptional service, stylish poolside ambiance, and delicious, generously portioned Greek cuisine. While many rave about the food and atmosphere, some reviews mention minor service errors or find certain dishes not to their taste, particularly given the price point. However, the overall experience is frequently described as outstanding, with many eager to return.
"I am totally surprised by some of the reviews posted here. Maybe we were not in the same restaurant. As far as I am concerned, this place is EXCEPTIONAL!
The service is EXCEPTIONAL! I felt very embarrassed that I did not leave a tip here. The service is non-intrusive, but somehow every interaction with the service staff is just right!
The food is EXCEPTIONAL! I want to come back for more.
The setting is EXCEPTIONAL! We totally enjoyed our lunch here although we were sitting just right beside the kitchen and serving area! We can see almost every dish that was served here during our visit.
The price is ORDINARY! I thought we were given the wrong bill.
I want to be back again, just to proof to myself that those that did not give this place five stars was in the wrong place."

"The food here is all tasty and cooked well. The menu is large so there is plenty of options. It was also nice to have this available poolside. A few errors were made with bringing the correct dishes/forgetting a dish when we dined poolside but other than that is was a nice dining experience."

"Had a wonderful father daughter date here. My dad had an appointment and they made sure to bring out the food super quickly (thank you to our server, Sebastian) and it was still delicious. We were very well looked after without feeling overwhelmed - well attended without being excessive. The atmosphere was amazing and as a migraine sufferer who struggles in highly illuminated and noisy environments, it was very calming and allowed me to enjoy my meal. 10/10 will definitely be going back and requesting for Sebastian."

Best places to eat and drink in Brisbane
Contemporary Greek taverna Hellenika first arose on the Gold Coast, but has now welcomed a sister venue in equally stylish new hotel The Calile. While the restaurant is worth a visit for its statement interiors alone, its Hellenic fare has seen it become a fast favourite in the Brisbane dining scene. When it comes to what to order, the eggplant moussaka and spanakopita are worthy of a round of applause, but it’s the zucchini chips here that have achieved cult-like status.
13 Of The Best Greek Restaurants In Brisbane
After winning hearts on the Gold Coast, Hellenika's younger James Street sibling was like a siren’s song to Brisbane foodies, and though the OG may have departed the GC for good, Burleigh's loss was our gain. Within the Calile Hotel, this swanky spot boasts dishes up both a menu of hearty Greek dishes (for when you need to sate those baked lamb and moussaka cravings) and a smaller, bites-focused pool menu. We’re not really sure where evolution is meant to go from here.
Where to eat and drink along James Street
A visit to James Street isn’t complete without a feast of delicious Greek food and people-watching at The Calile’s luxe poolside taverna, Hellenika. Style and sophistication can be found everywhere you look, from the glam group dining poolside cabanas to the waiters’ posh pink blazers, expansive wine and cocktail list and Greek favourites cooked to perfection. Don’t hold back from the Kolokithia (Hellenika’s zucchini chips), saganaki, fresh oysters or souvlakia.
