Reviews Summary

East End Cellars is lauded for its extensive and impressive wine selection, knowledgeable staff, and vibrant atmosphere. Diners often praise the quality of the food, especially small plates and brasserie classics. However, some reviews indicate issues with service consistency, long wait times for drinks, and occasional menu item unavailability or miscommunication regarding dietary needs.

"A wonderful light lunch & drinks. Mozzarella & samuli fritters were light, crunchy and delish. Beef short rib & French onion toast was delightfully full flavoured. Outdoor seating is a great spot to relax. Menu includes original options, unfortunately calamari was not available."

Merry

"We have recently discovered several exceptional restaurants on Rundle Street, including East End Cellar. This venue embodies the essence of sophistication, boasting an intriguing atmosphere, impressive wine selection, and a tapas-style menu. We had the pleasure of enjoying a date night, complete with wine and tapas. I was particularly impressed with the ambiance and vibe of this establishment.

Today, we returned to the restaurant and savoured a delectable Wagyu rump steak lunch at East End Cellar, all for the remarkable price of $30. We paired our meal with a bottle of Malbec red wine from McLaren Vale, South Australia. We are thoroughly enamored with this restaurant."

OZ UTube

"Steak sandwich... not. Had to wait, I think they forgot us. Then our came a roll of some sort with some lettuce and a thin cut piece of meat in the middle. Was not cheap. Don't do it. Beer was cold. Nice spot. Just a rip off and not value for money in any way."

With a selection measuring in the thousands and a climate-controlled “vault” of sought-after unicorn wines, this is one of Adelaide’s best wine shops. The staff are highly knowledgeable and for a A$15 fee will open any of the bottles for you to enjoy on-site. On Friday evening, local winemakers stop by to personally pour some of their bottles and share the stories behind them, and during the annual Fringe Festival the entire laneway turns into a giant party.

The Best Wine Bars in Adelaide for a Bottle and a Bite

Something of a neighbourhood institution by now, East End Cellars is one of Australia’s top traders connecting wine-obsessed Adelaideans with the best emerging local makers as well as those from around the globe, making this one of the most popular and best wine bars in Adelaide. At this slick tasting room-meets-bottleshop, over 15,000 bottles are at your disposal while an eclectic by-the-glass list jumps between gewürztraminers from Yetti & The Kokonut and fruity Tempranillos from La Linea. While you’re welcome to drop in for a glass, in our opinion, the food is too good to miss out on.

It’s a bonus when the city’s best-stocked wine shop is also a bar serving delicious bistro food. Sourcing wines directly from maverick micro-producers through to famous Champagne houses enables East End Cellars’ informed staff to recommend exciting new releases, many at surprisingly modest prices. These can be purchased and poured immediately in the adjacent bar space, The Tasting Room, and enjoyed with fine cheeses, charcuterie and hot dishes.

Continuing the revamp and Adelaide’s east end, Mr Goodbar is a multi-level small bar that overlooks Ebenezer Place. Styled as a European cigar bar within a heritage-listed venue, the space is a bit of a maze to navigate through – but once you find the bar and their signature cocktails, you won’t ever want to leave. Our recommendation: ask them to make something with butter vodka!
