Since its opening in 2011, the Dalan Art Gallery has displayed work by 26 contemporary artists of the post-Soviet period. These artists are given the space to host group or solo exhibitions, as well as the possibility of reaching a worldwide audience. What unites each of these artists is their attempt to understand their history in relation to today’s modern world, and to describe it through the means of visual arts.

Walk in Abovyan street(the oldest street in Yerevan built 1856) we will stop to see and talk about old houses and buildings from 19th century which were used as profitable houses for rich Armenian merchants for example we will see the building of richest Armenian merchant Egor Khanzadyan built 1895. We will visit Dalan art Gallery's hidden backyard which has a set up for jazz concerts and open air vine roofs. We will try sea buckthorn juice which have been used over centuries as food, traditional medicine, and skin treatment in China, Russia, and northern Europe.

Having opened in 2010, Dalan souvenir shop and art gallery cooperates with over 200 artists from the capital and the regions to present contemporary handmade art in the city as well as boost sales of arts and crafts. All artists represented are local and all works are handmade. According to the shop management, best sold items are ones representing Armenian symbols of Mount Ararat, pomegranate, apricot and grapes, however the shop has much more than that to offer, including ceramics works, jewelry, dolls, statuettes, scarves, etc.

Dalan Gallery is famous for its souvenir store, but not many know that behind the counter there is a beautiful restaurant space. You can find there a joyful vibe that will totally motivate you to study!. Abovyan 12’s open-air café, in a garden somewhat hidden behind shops lining Abovyan Street across from The Alexander, is terrific. (You actually walk through the shops to get to the pretty garden restaurant.) We liked it so much we went twice for lunch. Note: There is an inside restaurant as well which we did not try.

National dishes in traditional interiors can be tasted in the capital’s Vostan and Dalan restaurants. Both are on Abovyan Street. The first is located in a beautiful historical building, designed by Vasily Mirzoyan in 1884; in 1920, Soviet power was proclaimed from its balcony.

This open-air cafe, restaurant and tea shop is in the same building as a beautiful gallery, exhibiting the works of contemporary Armenian artists. It's a great spot to enjoy local meats, cheeses, soups and salads accompanied by Armenian wine and brandy.

Hidden in the back of gift shop right on the Abovyan street. Ambiance, decor in the heart of Yerevan. Food we ordered :Harissa (chicken and wheat cooked for hours), eggplant stuffed with meat served with rice pilaf and lamb khashlama were delicious.
