A must-try for anyone visiting Tirana, Era serves up scrumptious, traditional Albanian fare alongside many Italian classics, including pizzas. Located in a spellbinding, two-floor villa nearby the Qemal Stafa stadium, the restaurant first impresses with the beauty of its interiors. The rustic setting created by stone walls and wooden finishings is nicely softened with delicate accents like pastel-coloured pillows, fresh flowers and dainty curtains.

Dinner: We’ve managed to bag a table at the restaurant that was full on our first evening, Piceri Era. From the good list of local dishes, we tried petulla të fshira, a stack of layered thin pancakes cooked with garlic, feta cheese and butter (amazing!), and patëllxhan i mbushur, eggplant stuffed with tomato and peppers. We shared a very nice bottle of local red wine; the bill came to $36.

Those looking to try traditional Albanian food in Tirana can head to either of Era’s two locations in the center of the city. This restaurant offers a slightly more high-end – yet still affordable – experience to visitors and locals alike who want to enjoy traditional speca te mbushur (stuffed peppers), byrek (pastry filled with meat, cheese or spinach) or qofte (meatballs) that make Albanian cuisine so mouthwateringly good. Era Vila is a particularly beautiful and well-decorated venue, offering delicious house wine and excellent service.

Piceri Era (sometimes referred to as Era Restaurant), also in Blloku, is one of the best restaurants in Tirana for sampling traditional Albanian cuisine. This was one of the first restaurants I tried in Tirana, and remains one of my favourite places to eat in the city. The menu contains local dishes and delicacies from the country’s different regions, and uses traditional cooking methods to showcase the range of unique flavours found in Albanian cuisine.

If you are looking for a nice restaurant with an extensive variety of traditional foods, Era Restaurant is the way to go. For more fine dining and a relaxing, intimate atmosphere you may choose to go to Il Gusto, located between Bllok and the main boulevard, behind the Twin Towers. To combine your dining experience with an after-dinner lounge atmosphere, there are many places that offer both delicious food and great cocktails.

Head back in to town (around a 45 minute drive from the national park), and to Restaurant Era Piceri for brunch. Open from 11am, this charming eatery – back in Blloku, incidentally – is famous for its traditional Albanian cuisine. Try the fërgesë, a delicious dish made from peppers, tomatoes, and cottage cheese, served with fresh bread.

Styled as a cafe museum, this little bohemian place looks like a flea market. Every spare centimetre is crammed with communist-era relics, farming implements (those pitchforks hanging from the bar are probably a warning), Japanese fans, old clocks and so on. It's certainly a memorable spot for coffee or one of 25 varieties of raki.

Era Restaurant Pizzeria is the most popular among foreigners and Albanians. With a diverse menu, Era takes care of the special requirements of veggies, vegans and any other taste that requires special dedication. Era is a spectacular choice for an excellent go-to spot that can deliver to you pretty much anywhere in Tirana. It is known as the first of its kind, specializing in high-quality catering and delivery services. They began back in 1999 with the opening of their first restaurant, and delivery services followed within a year.

One of the best traditional restaurants in Tirana, Era is a modern, family-run restaurant located in the heart of Tirana. For traditional Albanian food, I ate at Era in the Blloku district. For a starter, I had grilled eggplant topped with a slice of goat cheese and tomato. My main course was fërgesë, which is very tender pieces of veal, peppers, tomatoes, spices, and goat cheese cooked into a nice, gooey mess in a stone bowl.

Wherever you go, and whoever you ask – if you ask about where you should eat dinner… you’ll get one common answer: Era. You have to eat at Era. Located in the Blloku, it was suggested to us by our Airbnb host, and then on Google, and then many blog posts told us that we should probably check it out.

If you are after something a little more local, Era Restaurant does traditional Albanian delicacies better than almost anywhere else in Tirana. And, no culinary exploration of this fantastic city would be complete without a bowl of tasqebap, a classic Albanian stew, from Kastrati Tradicional.

For a modern twist on Albanian food, head to Era Restaurant. Located in the center of Tirana, Era offers a contemporary setting with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Try the grilled meats, seafood dishes, or the traditional Albanian salad with feta cheese, olives, and tomatoes.

Era Restaurant”, located right in Blloku, is another great restaurant in Tirana. I usually say that a good restaurant should have a limited menu because if they have a menu that looks like a book, most likely they will not execute everything perfectly. Well, this is not the case for ERA.

Another good place in the city to grab some traditional Albanian (they have international foods as well) is Restaurant-Piceri. It’s located near Enver Hoxha’s house so it’s very central. While you’ll pay more than Oda for your meal, your taste buds will not complain!

Restaurant Piceri Era – this is an amazing place to eat Albanian food in the Blokku neighbourhood. Top dishes include meatballs in yoghurt with pistachio, plus the dolma (stuffed vine leaves). You’ll pay around €20 for two people with two courses & drinks!

You can’t visit Tirana and not try some of the local goodies. For that I highly recommend Era!. This place as locals say is ‘safe’ as they offer all the local delicacies but also well-known dishes so you can experiment a bit but also play safe.

Nestled in the trendy Blloku area, Era is renowned for its traditional Albanian cuisine with a modern twist. Highlights include their perfectly cooked tavë kosi (lamb baked in yogurt) and fresh seafood platters.

We had to queue outside for about twenty minutes, and we were lucky. The queue grew after we got there. Once inside, you are shown to your table where you can buy local beers, which I recommend here.
