What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Cam Ly Waterfall is a budget-friendly attraction in Da Lat, but reviews frequently mention unpleasant odors and litter in the water, detracting from its natural appeal. While the surrounding gardens are often praised for their maintenance, the overall experience can be disappointing for those expecting a pristine natural environment.
"It was the worst waterfall I have ever been to. It's super stinky, there is trash everywhere and the people who supposedly "clean" the place just blow the trash further down the river. The water is disgusting, it seems more like a sewage than anything else. I can't believe they charge an entrance fee for this. Do not go there."

"We visited Cam Ly Waterfall today, and at first, we almost gave up because the main entrance was closed. 🚫
Luckily, we were shown another way in. ➡️
The guy at the entrance warned us that the waterfall is smelly, and he was right—the water does have an unpleasant odor since it flows through the entire city. 🚰👃
However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that the scenery is truly beautiful. 🌿🌊 We managed to take some really nice pictures from different angles. 📸✨ It’s a shame that the area is a bit dirty and smelly, but despite that, it still has a lot of potential. With better maintenance, this place could be amazing. 💡 I’m giving it 4 stars, even though it feels more like a 3, because I believe it deserves it and has room to improve. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Parking was free 🚗, and the entrance fee was very affordable at only 40,000 VND. 💰
We ended up spending quite a lot of time enjoying the views and capturing the beauty. Definitely worth a visit!"

"What potentially could have been a great place for a 1-2 hours walk and wonder turned as a filthy river that apparently gets all the sewer from around, so a lot of rubbish, empty bottles and tons of nasty white foam. The gardens around seem to be handled properly when it comes to gardening and shaping of bushes and trees but you can also see lots of trash all over the place. We came on a Saturday afraid it would be packed but were the only visitors (we can only assume others were aware of the how bad it is...). Left after 10 mins and 120k spent for nothing...(tickets are 40k adult and 20k kids). Important to mention that the Google Maps location leads to the old gate so had to walk down 50 meters to the new gate."

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Focus on exploring the surrounding gardens, which are generally well-maintained and offer a safe space for children to walk around. The waterfall itself is not a place for swimming or extensive play due to the water quality. It's best suited as a brief educational stop about urban water systems or a quick photo opportunity before heading to other attractions.
💰 Budget Travelers
However, it's crucial to align your expectations with the reality of the site. While it's inexpensive, many visitors feel the cost is still too high given the environmental issues. It's best viewed as a very short, low-cost excursion rather than a major destination. Consider it a quick stop to stretch your legs and see a local landmark before moving on to more rewarding experiences.

Understanding the Cam Ly Waterfall Experience
Despite these drawbacks, some visitors find the surrounding gardens to be well-maintained and appreciate the effort put into landscaping. The compact nature of the waterfall means it's not a sprawling natural wonder, but rather a more contained feature. For those who can overlook the water's condition, the greenery offers a pleasant visual, and the low entrance fee makes it an accessible, albeit brief, stop.
Travelers often suggest managing expectations before visiting. Instead of focusing on the pristine beauty of a natural waterfall, it's more realistic to view Cam Ly as a green space within the city that happens to have a waterfall. The key is to appreciate the surrounding flora and the effort in maintaining the park areas, while being prepared for the less-than-ideal water conditions.
Navigating Entrance and Fees at Cam Ly
The entrance fee for Cam Ly Waterfall is generally considered very affordable, typically around 40,000 VND for adults and 20,000 VND for children. This low cost makes it an accessible attraction for most travelers. Parking is also usually available and often free of charge. Despite the low fee, the value proposition is debated by visitors due to the condition of the waterfall itself.
When planning your visit, it's wise to arrive during daylight hours. While specific opening times aren't always clearly stated, ensuring you have ample daylight will allow you to explore the grounds and take photos. The overall experience is often brief for many, with some visitors spending only 10-15 minutes due to the environmental concerns.
