What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Hoi An Silk Village for its informative and engaging tours that clearly explain the silk production process, from silkworms to weaving. The mulberry welcome drink and the opportunity to see traditional craftsmanship are highlights. However, some shoppers found the on-site store to be a mix of pure and synthetic silk, requiring careful inspection of items.
"Nice and informative excursion on silk production where you can see silk worms and their food, silk-waving machines in process and pure silk and unnatural silk comparison.
Welcome mulberry drinks are nice bonus.
The main disappointment is the shop: the stuff is polite and helpful, but there're a lot of mix-silk (including synthetic materials) and a few local artist made scarves; the colors are mainly bright.
I've bought the only black silk scarf and have been disappointed in finding out the big drawstring with a hole in a scarf for 1200000 dongs which was carefully packed by the stuff."

"Smooth
Had the tour where we only arrived by private taxi. No other groups there so we had it all to ourselves which meant everyone took a little extra care of us. So timing can be important. Our teenagers didn't know about the process so they loved it. The tour was well worth it. We did some shopping afterwards where the prices were fixed regardless of volume but the quality is excellent."

"I would say this was one of my best stays in Vietnam. It was so relaxing and even the property was nice. They had quick service and they also upgraded us to a villa and who doesn’t love that. 🥰 I would really recommend it if you are planning to visit Hoi An."

The Art of Silk Production
The highlight for many is observing the silk-weaving process on traditional looms. Skilled artisans demonstrate the intricate techniques passed down through generations, transforming delicate silk threads into beautiful textiles. The rhythmic clatter of the looms and the vibrant colors of the threads create a mesmerizing spectacle. It’s a testament to the craftsmanship and dedication involved in creating high-quality silk products.
Beyond the production, the village also serves as a resort and spa, offering a tranquil escape. The grounds are designed to be relaxing, and the welcome mulberry drinks are a refreshing touch. Navigating the Silk Village Shop
However, it's important to be an informed shopper. Some visitors have noted that the shop carries a mix of pure silk and synthetic materials, making it crucial to inspect items carefully. Look for the tell-tale signs of pure silk, such as its natural sheen and the way it drapes. If possible, ask about the origin and composition of the fabric to ensure you are purchasing authentic Vietnamese silk.
While prices are fixed, the quality of the items can vary. Some reviews mention finding unique pieces from local artists, while others suggest a prevalence of brightly colored, mass-produced items. By being observant and asking questions, you can make a more confident purchase and find a truly special souvenir from your visit to the Hoi An Silk Village.
