Reviews Summary

Visitors find Ta Phin Monastery Ruins to be a unique and atmospheric site with intriguing classical architecture and distinctive red moss. However, the experience can be marred by persistent local vendors and safety concerns due to the dilapidated state of the ruins.

"We saw this church ruin from the road and decided to stop and visit. There isnt very much to see but ruins have their own charm. Part of the building has collapsed so it's not safe to enter. There were a group of local tribe ladies at the site selling hand made items and they can be pretty persistent to make a sale."

"Walked all the way from Sa Pa to Ta Phin monastery, but the entrance was blocked, seemingly under construction."

Ken

"Don’t bother. Arrived and were greeted (swarmed?) by seven locals all running the same script of where you from/how long you here/you want shopping/buy souvenir/you want trekking.

As the ruins are, well in ruin— there is no clear indicators as to where is safe and where isn’t. I wasn’t sure if the ground in some parts was ground or just a hole covered in grass. All this while being harassed and followed by seven people when all you want is to be left alone to experience the ruins in peace.

I found saying that I had already bought souvenirs in Sapa was a great way to deter their constant nagging."
