A polular and high rating establishment. I feel the food is average, environment and ambience is pretty good.
Their stired fried and roast items are really average, I can have it in any of our local Zi Char stalls in heartlands.
Typical Vietnamese food, these taste are ok.
Overall, rating and stars overated, however its a pleasant place to dine. 打卡成功!"

"Food is amazing and well prepared. Presentation is perfect and taste is delicious.
Crab fried rice had more garlic than anything else please see picture.
I wonder if it was even crab in it. Waitress looking after us upstairs no attention at all looked but didn't come to us. Had to ask.
Had to move plate aside to get the table clear others did the same as a result we didn't bother to ask for dessert and will go elsewhere instead."

"Disappointing Experience at Hanoi Garden Restaurant – A Vietnamese Restaurant That Missed the Mark
I’ve always loved Vietnamese cuisine – the fresh herbs, balanced flavors, and that perfect harmony of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy (when you actually want the spice). Unfortunately, my recent visit to Hanoi Garden Restaurant left me frustrated and unlikely to return.
We ordered several classic dishes, including the Grilled Eel (specified as non-spicy, since one person in our party cannot tolerate heat) and a couple of other staples. When the grilled eel arrived, it was immediately obvious something was wrong: the broth was bright red, loaded with chili oil, and overwhelmingly spicy. We double-checked the menu and our order – yes, we had clearly requested the non-spicy version.
We politely flagged the waiter and asked for the correct dish. He came back a few minutes and offered no replacement. We asked to speak to the manager. The manager repeated more or less the same line, shrugged, and suggested we “just eat around the chili.” No apology, no offer to remake the dish, no discount – nothing.
To add insult to injury, the rest of the food was underwhelming: they tasted thin and lacked depth, the spring rolls were greasy, and portions felt smaller than expected for the price. Service throughout the meal was inattentive; we had to wave multiple times for water refills and the bill.
What should have been a relaxing Vietnamese meal turned into a frustrating and disappointing evening. When a restaurant gets an order wrong – especially something as basic as spicy vs. non-spicy – the least they can do is fix it promptly and graciously. Here, they didn’t seem to care.
Sadly, I can’t recommend this one. There are too many excellent Vietnamese spots in town that actually listen to their customers and serve food with care. This one fell far short of expectations.
1/5 stars. That’s all forks."

The Culinary Philosophy of Hanoi Garden
Reviewers often praise the exquisite presentation of the food, noting that each dish is a work of art. While some dishes are classic preparations, others offer a modern twist. The menu features a range of options, from seafood like the Rock Salt Jumbo Prawn to meat dishes like Stir-fried Chicken with Cashew, and vegetable sides such as Crisp Morning Glory. The restaurant also offers a selection of beverages, including beer, wine, and cocktails, to complement the dining experience.
Despite the high praise, some diners have noted that certain dishes, like the crab fried rice, might have an overwhelming amount of garlic, or that the flavors can sometimes be perceived as average by those accustomed to local 'Zi Char' stalls. However, the overall consensus leans towards a positive culinary experience, with many returning multiple times during their stay in Hanoi.
Ambiance and Setting: An Indochine Escape
This setting makes Hanoi Garden a popular choice for romantic dinners and special occasions. The combination of lush greenery in the outdoor spaces and the refined interior design provides a picturesque backdrop for diners. Whether you're enjoying a meal under the stars or within the tastefully decorated rooms, the environment contributes significantly to the overall dining experience.
While the ambiance is generally lauded, some guests have noted minor issues, such as the availability of high chairs for infants, which might require advance confirmation. However, the overall feeling is one of a peaceful retreat from the city's energy, perfect for savoring a meal in comfort and style.
Navigating Service and Expectations
A significant point of contention for some diners has been the restaurant's handling of order mistakes, particularly regarding spice levels. In one detailed review, a guest reported being served a dish with chili when they had specifically requested a non-spicy version. The response from management was perceived as unhelpful, with no offer to remake the dish or provide a discount.
This inconsistency in service can lead to disappointing experiences for some visitors. It's advisable for diners to be very clear about their preferences and to politely follow up if any issues arise. Despite these occasional drawbacks, many guests still find the overall experience, including the food and ambiance, to be positive and worth recommending.
