What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning panoramic views of Lan Ha Bay from Cannon Fort, especially during sunrise and sunset. While the official entrance can be closed and a fee is sometimes charged, many find alternative, free routes to access equally breathtaking viewpoints. Some mention historical remnants and the potential for wildlife encounters.
"Due to typhoon this area is closed for a year. When riding scooter we were stopped with other riders by the staff at flamingo hotel.
Instead of the cannon fort, we parked outside flamingo hotel and walked to the right along the hills to watch the sunset from a more beautiful spot. See pics! There was a police man asking for 10k per bike, which I think was a scam but so cheap to park up and see the views."
Amit Shah
"We walked up to the gate but when we arrived there at 12:45, the gate was closed. We took the stairs recommended in other reviews and arrived at a bunker with an amazing view. Once we got down at 13:15, the gate was being opened by the man seen on different photo’s and he was indeed asking for 50.000 VND. It might have been worth it if you wanted to visit the (abandoned) museum but we were happy with the views we had already seen."
Lotte Tjebbes
"just like the other reviews. DO NOT go to the google maps fort cannon location beyond any gates. There’s a dirt/slight paved steps path on the left of the road next to a small scooter parking lot. Went up with no problem or fees and enjoyed a stunning sunset!"
