What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Bun Dau Mam Tom street stalls offer an authentic and incredibly affordable Vietnamese culinary adventure. Diners praise the fresh ingredients, crispy tofu, and generous portions. However, the potent fermented shrimp paste is a polarizing element, with some finding it too strong or greasy, while others celebrate its unique umami depth.
"Unique Vietnamese experience recommend to me by one of the hotel staff where I am staying. Fried tofu, sausages, spring rolls, cold cuts of pork, vermicelli noodles and herbs on the side. Was very tasty and filling, the shrimp paste was not my thing but it a side dipping sauce so just didn't use it. Cheap beers served to wash it all down (15k dong) and I got the big plate of food for 50k dong so very reasonable. Friendly staff and fast service catering for all my needs."

"The Mog Champ sends his regards.
A speciality restaurant for Bún đậu mắm tôm (rice vermicelli w/ tofu, meats and fermented shrimp past) - a smaller restaurant with only a few tables available however a delicious Vietnamese dish that would be difficult to order overseas!
The fermented shrimp paste may not be for everyone due to the saltiness of it, however you can dip your noodles and meats to as much paste as you'd like to control the savoury taste. Also ordered sugar cane juice with the food which helps with the meal. Thanks for the food!
Mogliest Regards,

"If you’re craving authentic Bún Đậu Mắm Tôm, this small shop is a hidden gem! The dish is beautifully presented with fresh herbs, crispy fried spring rolls, silky tofu, tender boiled pork, and perfectly cut vermicelli noodles. The star of the show, the fermented shrimp paste (mắm tôm), is well-balanced—rich, umami-packed, and pairs perfectly with the ingredients.
Despite its high quality, the food is incredibly inexpensive, making it an amazing deal for such a delicious and satisfying meal. The flavors are bold, the textures are spot-on, and the portion size is generous. If you’re a fan of Vietnamese cuisine, this place is definitely worth a visit!
Highly recommended for both locals and travelers looking for an authentic taste of Vietnam."
