"Very beautiful and clean. A great place to spend a cool afternoon."
Nervys Piñango
"The old plaza of the Franciscan convent began to be called Bolívar in the mid-nineteenth century. By 1907, the construction of a circular monument was ordered, which would have in its center the statue of Simón Bolívar surrounded by those of Sucre, Lara, Juares, Iribarren and Cedeño, which would be baptized by the people with the name of "the cake" or "patriotic cake". Already in 1939, the plaza was renovated by eliminating the set of statues and an image of General Jacinto Lara was placed. This public space is made up of a set of rectilinear walkways intertwined with planters and green areas with abundant trees, which give the place an image of a shaded space and great greenery. In it, the pedestrian statue of the hero Jacinto Lara stands out, on a high pedestal. In this square, the Lara state anthem was played for the first time by the Mavare Orchestra on the afternoon of July 5, 1911, on the occasion of the centenary of the Declaration of Independence."
