Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the National Library of Uzbekistan for its stunning exterior architecture and vast book collection, making it a visually impressive and resource-rich destination. However, the experience can be hampered by limited power outlets, mandatory bag storage with potential queues, and a lack of dedicated spaces for laptop work, leading some to suggest alternative study locations. Reddit

"I visited the Flower Festival on May 3rd, 2025, and overall, it was a good experience. The event was beautifully organized with vibrant flower displays and lively music that created a cheerful atmosphere. There were food stalls available, which made it convenient to spend a few hours enjoying the event.

However, the festival was extremely overcrowded. The large number of visitors unfortunately led to some damage, particularly to the grass areas, which were badly trampled and ruined in many spots. It would be great if better crowd management or walking paths were arranged in future editions to help preserve the space.

Still, the combination of floral beauty, food, and live music made it a pleasant event to attend. With a bit more care from visitors and organizers, it could be even better next year."

"Good place for school children and tourists. But if you are about to work or study with laptop 💻 then you better go to some other places (probably coworking zones) because only a few halls have outlets, most of their halls do not even have simple outlet to charge your phone and laptop. And it's very uncomfortable that you have to leave your bag and other belongings in the wardrobe which is really crowded. Sometimes you wait 10-15 minutes to leave your places in the wardrobe. I do not understand why should I carry my laptop, my books and my notebooks, phone and any other things in my hands there when I have a bag, it's very uncomfortable. And people usually leave their notebooks and other belongings in free places so that you cannot seat. They are not literally there but just leave their things so that you cannot seat. They probably come back after 2 or 3 hours. Until that time nobody should take their place. Just poor internal rules which make it very uncomfortable for users."

"I never been inside but the external architecture of the building is really nice. The wooden doors are huge and turns the place into a majestic place. The fountains around also create a good ambiance to relax and spend some time with yourself."

For Different Travelers

Tailored advice for your travel style

👨‍👩‍👧 Families with Kids

The National Library of Uzbekistan can be a good place for school children to explore books and develop a reading habit. The impressive exterior architecture and fountains offer a pleasant visual experience for younger visitors. However, parents should be aware that the library is primarily a quiet study environment, so keeping children calm and respectful of others is essential. Reddit

Practical considerations for families include the mandatory bag storage, which might be challenging with multiple children. Also, the limited availability of power outlets means that if children need to use electronic devices for educational purposes, planning ahead is crucial. For a more relaxed family outing with activities specifically geared towards children, other attractions in Tashkent might be more suitable. Reddit

🧑‍💻 Students & Remote Workers

The National Library offers a vast collection of books, making it an excellent resource for students and researchers. The quiet atmosphere is generally conducive to focused study. However, be prepared for the practical challenges: limited power outlets are a major concern for laptop users, and the mandatory bag check can be time-consuming. Reddit

Many Redditors suggest that if consistent power and easy access to your belongings are priorities, coworking spaces in Tashkent might be a better fit. Despite these issues, the library's extensive resources make it a valuable option for those who can manage the logistical aspects and prioritize access to a wide range of literature. Reddit

Architectural Grandeur

The National Library of Uzbekistan is not just a repository of knowledge but also an architectural marvel. Its exterior is characterized by majestic wooden doors and elegant design, often complemented by fountains that enhance the overall ambiance. This visual appeal makes it a notable landmark in Tashkent, drawing admiration even from those who don't intend to use its services. The building's facade provides a striking backdrop for photographs, capturing the grandeur of Uzbek architecture. Reddit

While the interior reading halls are the primary focus for visitors seeking to study or read, the external beauty of the library is a significant draw. It offers a serene environment for contemplation and relaxation, making it a pleasant place to spend time even if you're not delving into its extensive book collection. The combination of impressive architecture and surrounding water features creates a memorable impression. Reddit

Study and Work Environment

For students and remote workers, the National Library presents a mixed bag. While it offers a vast collection of books and a generally quiet atmosphere conducive to study, practicalities can be challenging. Power outlets are scarce, meaning laptop users should come fully charged or bring a power bank. Reddit

Furthermore, the requirement to store all personal belongings, including bags, in a wardrobe can be inconvenient, often involving queues. Some visitors find this process cumbersome, especially if they need frequent access to their items. The library's internal rules, while aimed at maintaining order, can sometimes create discomfort for users trying to settle in for extended work or study sessions. Reddit

Despite these drawbacks, the library remains a popular spot for those seeking a dedicated space for reading and research. The sheer volume of available literature is a significant advantage for academic pursuits. However, for those prioritizing consistent power access and seamless bag management, exploring coworking spaces in Tashkent might be a more suitable alternative. Reddit
