What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Yorktown Beach is lauded as a clean, calm, and family-friendly spot perfect for relaxation and combining history with a beach day. Visitors appreciate its peaceful atmosphere compared to busier destinations and the scenic waterfront views, especially of the Coleman Bridge. While parking can be challenging and some dining options are pricey, the overall experience is highly positive, with many finding it a beautiful and well-maintained destination.
"Visited in August and it was the perfect summer stop. The beach is clean, calm, and great for a relaxing swim or walk along the waterfront. The area around it has a nice boardwalk vibe with restaurants, ice cream shops, and plenty of seating to enjoy the river view.
I really like how easy it is to combine a bit of history with a beach day here — everything is walking distance, and parking was manageable even on a warm afternoon. A beautiful and peaceful spot that feels both local and special."

"There is no better family friendly place in the area than the Yorktown Waterfront. It's amazing here! It's quaint, full of history, clean sand, safe waters, beautiful landscaping, plus the marina with all kinds of boats; the Coleman Bridge is all lit up at night & there is usually a beautiful sunset/sky over the bridge. There's a separate park for grilling & get togethers, & a long pier for fishing, etc. There's also great food (on the expensive side), & free concerts, activities all year long. There are cool places to explore like the mini caves & hidden paths. I wish I lived here year round! Another cool thing is how many families with kids were still playing on the beach & in the sand after 9pm! We were on paddle boards late into the night, it was so beautiful. I could have been in the Caribbean! There's also a Mariners museum & everything is well taken care of & kept very clean. I love it here so much!
On the downside there is no playground in the park area & parking can be difficult. The roads are narrow & things can be expensive. Also, no pets are allowed on the beach so that really is a bummer. I think they're allowed in the park area though & on the pier."

"Love Yorktown beach. It's so much more quiet and chill, unlike Virginia Beach. And the is not too big and starch far out on both sides. It's just right."
