Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Sayward-Wheeler House for its incredibly well-preserved original furnishings and its authentic window into 18th-century life. The historical depth, including narratives of indigenous people and enslaved individuals, is highly valued. However, some tours can be excessively long, and the house's lack of wheelchair accessibility is a notable drawback.

"I found out about this museum house when I explored Fisherman's Walk. I am a member of the historical society that owns the house 🏡.
You have to reserve a reservation online. They have tours the first and third Saturday of the month from June - October, 11-3 PM.
The tour was just over 45 minutes and it was very informative. The group I was with were very nice people who were into the tour. I am very interested in history and learning a bit about the life of a Loyalist who went through the persecution of people who opposed British rule was interesting. They also provide some history of the indigenous people and the people who were either slaves or indentured servants was also important. Jane Seymour, no relation to the actress, was the name of one of the servants.
The furniture is in great condition and the views from the windows 🪟 made me wonder what life would have been like in the past.
Parking 🅿️ is limited on the front lawn. The building is not wheelchair ♿ accessible.
If you are into history, especially in the area, I recommend a visit."
