Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the breathtaking views from the Cape Perpetua Overlook and the dramatic spectacle of Thor's Well. The hiking trails, particularly the Saint Perpetua Trail, are praised for their rewarding climbs and serene forest scenery. Some find parking challenging and note that trails can be muddy, recommending appropriate footwear.

"Not to far of a walk if you drive to the top of the hill first, I think there is a trail up the side of the mountain, and Im not cut out for that kind if hike. We were there when it was on the dry side, and it was still muddy on parts of the trail, so wear suitable shoes. Easy enough walk to the overlook and back to the parking area. Huge campground we drove in and out again, no parking unless you have a spot reserved. Didn't see the turn to the visitors center until we drove past going north on the 101 or we would have stopped while we were there."

Frances “Fry” Sutton

"We chose to hike up, though you can drive basically right to the top (which takes the fun out of it haha). I find it much more rewarding to get a payoff view after making the trek up from the bottom of any hike. It's 800' of climbing in about 1.6 miles, and the trail is in good condition and is pretty regular, so it's not too bad. The trail winds its way through a spruce forest with a lot of lush undergrowth and wildflowers. The views open up only in the last few hundred feet so again, the anticipation of a good view makes the hike more interesting. The view is not quite as sweeping as I thought it would be, trees sort of obstruct the view to the north, though you can see quite a ways in both directions. You can look right down to Thor's Well from the stone structure at the top. Nice viewpoint and a good little hike."

Allan Ruyters

"Three ways up to the top. Hike St Perpetua trail a mile up with constant elevation gain of 650ft or hike the Amanda trail on the other side for a longer challenging hike. The payoff either way is amazing. If hiking is not your jive you can drive to the top too!"
