What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hanes Park is a well-loved community spot with great facilities like a large playground and tennis courts. Visitors appreciate the scenic walking path and picnic areas. However, some find the toddler playground challenging and note the lack of shade and occasional locked restrooms.
"HOT AND DRY. It does have picnic tables. No shade anywhere. After 5 minutes my 8 or old asked to leave. He said that the big play set is only climb up and slide down. It was a ghost town around noon on a Wednesday."

"This was a very nice park for me, wife and 3 little kids. The bathrooms were locked so we had to cut the trip short, and one of the slides was closed off because it's broken so that was not good, but everything else was very fun and well maintained. There's a very nice creek and bridge, a very nice running track for walkers, joggers, and runners, many tennis courts, and a very nice playground. There's also a public water fountain for when you get thirsty or if you want to fill your bottle. I can't wait to go back. 👍👍"

"Nice, fun and beautiful place to take the kids. With multiple big slides, plenty of swings for big and little children, and activities to play on as well. It's a stream with a lovely walking path. A beautiful play to come and take pictures with the family. I would have added pictures of the actual park but I have my children in them. Had a good time and snagged plenty of photos"

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
For parents of toddlers, the smaller playground might present challenges due to its elevated design, making it difficult for very young children to access. It's recommended to assess your child's climbing abilities beforehand. Also, be aware that the park can get very hot and dry with limited shade, so pack plenty of water and plan your visit for cooler times of the day. Some reviewers have also noted that restrooms may be locked, so be prepared for that possibility.

Navigating the Playgrounds
However, the smaller playground, recommended for ages 2-5, has received mixed reviews. Some parents found the design to be too elevated, with significant gaps making it difficult for toddlers to reach stairs or safely navigate the equipment. While it includes a cute ladybug rocker, the overall structure might be more suitable for older toddlers or preschoolers. It's worth assessing your child's climbing abilities before heading straight for this section.
Despite some design critiques, the park generally offers a good variety of swings and play equipment. The presence of a creek and bridge adds to the charm and provides additional exploration opportunities for children.
Sports and Recreation
Beyond tennis, the park offers fields for soccer and baseball, providing ample space for team sports and recreational activities. Saturday mornings often see free fitness boot camps taking place, offering a great way to get active and connect with the community. This makes Hanes Park a versatile spot for both individual workouts and group sports.
