Mason Inlet, the best part of Wilmington, NC and so much more than just a beach 🫶🏻 In between Wrightsville Beach and Figure 8 Island, you’ll find our weekend beach parking spot at Masons!!! The best part about Masons (besides how blue the water is) is how you can bring your dogs all summer long! No dog rules in the inlet 🙌🏼🙌🏼 This is one of the sweetest sandbar spots in all of ILM, we hope to see...

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Masonboro Island Reserve's pristine, undeveloped beauty and seclusion, making it ideal for a peaceful beach day or camping trip. The main challenge is access, requiring a boat or kayak, and the complete lack of facilities means thorough preparation is essential. Despite these hurdles, the natural scenery and wildlife viewing opportunities make it a highly rewarding destination for those seeking an escape.

"If you're lucky enough to know someone with a boat, this is the best place to visit! Not crowded at all, great for seashell hunting, beach sports, and viewing wildlife (birds, crabs, etc). We spent all day here enjoying the little tide pools that formed and walking in the soft sand. Water (on the beach side) was a bit rough for swimming and you need to bring your own tent, towels, etc- There is no natural shade whatsoever. Also, be sure to take your trash with you when you leave as there are no garbage cans. Perfect spot for a beach day!"

Stewart Ramirez

"Beautiful uninhabited island on the edge of the world. A boat, kayak, or paddle board needed to get out there. Kayaks or paddle boards can launch from Trails End Park. You can see the access point in the satellite view of Google maps. Make sure you check the tides, it turns to mud at low tide. If you time it right, you can get a boost going out as the tide comes in and a boost returning as the tide goes out. Good luck!"

Mike Martin

"Scenic uninhabited island only accessible by water. A beautiful place to visit by kayak or small boat!"
