"overall both my rising freshmen kid and myself are pleased with the house accommodation provided by the Director of Housing & Residence Life, director Harriet Kandell and her team. Despite huge stress caused by the news of delay of the new dorm construction released just 3 weeks prior to move in date, they are able to find us a room that met our needs based on student accessibility request documented in portal just in time. We are grateful for their support and understanding for my freshman kid's physical health. Thank you!"

"To prospective and current students - I’d like to share something I wish I knew before I invested 5 years and nearly $100k in a W&M education - there are a lot of very well-paying, rewarding career paths that do not require a college degree, or require an affordable skills-focused degree from a technical school. My brother, a lineman with no college degree, makes more than double ($150k/yr) what I make as a CPA with bachelors and masters degrees from W&M ($70k/yr in DC). Typical airline pilots with 6 years of experience can make almost triple what I make. Registered Nurses working as travel nurses from a 4 year program can also make more than double my accounting salary.
If you are considering W&M as an investment in your future career, make sure you also consider alternative career paths that may pay quite well and that you may even enjoy. I’m writing this not to dissuade you from a great university, but letting you know that you may have more options than you think you have.
If you are at W&M, or any school for that matter, and are stressed or in a dark place, KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOVED and you also have options! YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE! No college experience is ever worth dark thoughts. Take a step back - don’t let the pressure of any university limit your potential, and most of all, don’t worry. You’re going to be OK!
And PS - I’m changing careers to Aviation - college degree not required. Get out there and do what you love!
