What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hikers praise Vulture Peak Trail for its stunning desert scenery and rewarding summit views, despite the challenging rock scramble. The well-marked initial path and abundant flora are highlights, though the intense sun exposure and loose terrain require caution. Many recommend it for a good desert hike, with dispersed camping nearby.
"The hike is great. Well marked and accessible. There is quite a bit of loose rock and gravel though all the way up so take caution while hiking. From the saddle to the actual peak is true rock climbing so keep that in mind if you're hiking with older groups or younger children. Plenty of hand holds up and down but not easy by any means, however, no ropes required. Views though, oh yes, those are fantastic."

"Great hike. Beautiful desert foliage w/ lots of cholla and other cactus species everywhere. Challenging scramble up the final portion of the summit block but well worth the effort. Great views of surrounding area. Very few people on trail leading to summit."
LesleyZ
"Short but steep hike to a very nice view of the Hassayampa Valley. Reaching the actual peak will require some very basic scrambling. There are tons of nice dispersed camping spots leading up to the trailhead.
Something to be careful for is that the trail is almost completely south sun exposed (except for a very small section leading up to the saddle), so if it's a hot/sunny AZ day, you're really going to be feeling the heat. I would avoid this trail in the summer, or plan on being on trail at the crack of dawn."
