What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Pio Pico State Park for its free admission, beautiful grounds, and historical significance, offering a peaceful escape and a glimpse into California's past. Some note the limited number of rooms accessible inside the mansion and wish for more detailed historical information.
"Had a wonderful morning strolling the grounds and touring the Pío Pico House in detail. The pictures and information were excellent, and I truly appreciated the people before us working to restore it for everyone to enjoy. Loved the furnishings and historical context imagery that helped tell the story. I’ll definitely consider having lunch at the tables and scheduling a guided tour next time!"

"I have not been able to visit this site but I love the pictures. I slept in that bed when I was a child visiting my grandparents (A. B. Moreno). His house was full of Pico antiques and I still have a clock that belonged to Pico. I wish I had more of the items but they somehow get lost in time. Thankyou for preserving his history."
Alan Gibson
"Beautiful manicured lawn and buildings. Lots of picnic tables. The mansion feel small compared to today's standards. I was thinking and hoping that it should have at least 10-15 rooms or so but when we were there only three or four rooms were visibly seen and allowed to be entered. The upstairs is off limits.
Another thing is, I don't know too much about it because the placards or signs don't tell too much about the history of Mexican rancheros in California. Audio visual teaching aid such as videos would be nice. A lot of the historic places in Texas or Missouri or Arkansas that I visit or national monuments throughout the USA include audio visual aid such as videos. All in all it was a beautiful day and the place is clean and tidy."
