What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
TouVelle State Recreation Site offers beautiful river views and good access for fishing and boating, with a popular dog run and a hidden swimming spot for kids. However, some visitors find the park to be scruffy and lacking in maintenance, with basic restroom facilities.
"I've passed by the sign to TouVelle a zillion times but never stopped here before. Not too keen on paying for a day pass just to stop somewhere, is the thing. I decided to get an annual Oregon State Parks pass so I could stop at a lot of places, and thus I finally visited this park.
The river is beautiful, that goes without saying. The park is large and not overly crowded for a holiday. Kids are swimming and boats are drifting by. All this is very pleasant.
Why only two stars then? It's scruffy, and not clean. Lots of cigarette butts (annoying on many levels, of course). And plenty of people don't pick up after their dogs. The grass isn't grass, the trails are unkempt, it's hard to find a convenient spot to sit. I'm fine with being out in nature, so I'm not necessarily looking for a manicured experience but a fee park should be a lot nicer than this was."
