What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The National Golf Club of Louisiana offers a generally enjoyable golfing experience with a challenging course and friendly staff. However, some visitors have encountered issues with golf cart maintenance and inconsistent customer service from management, particularly during tournaments.
"Great course, sand traps were a little rough and greens had some patches but overall it was great. Staff was was extremely friendly and helpful."

"After hosting my golf tournament at the National on Saturday, August 16th, it is a must that I share the negative experience.
1. Not one but 3 golf carts experienced malfunctions. (2 flat tires) (1 weak battery) Note that it took some 20-25 minutes for carts to be replaced. Ive been playing golf over 40+ years, never before have 3 carts failed in an event that I've participated in. Lack of ice for the entire golf course. Not the fault of staff. Fault is directed at the management! Much needed customer service skills improvement on behalf of Austin the golf Director and Jaime Perkins, General Manager. Excuses were provided for the lack of maintenance with the golf carts. Tires were bald on most carts within our groups that passed us while waiting for our cart to be replaced. Explanation was that The National host some 160 tournaments throughout the year. So does Koasati Pines, so does The Golden Nugget, so does L'auberge. No flat tires or issues when playing these courses on Friday & Sunday. Note, I have hosted my tournament here for over 10+ years. No issues prior to this year. Jevon Perry previous Golf Director, excellent job!! Kudos for a job we'll done by Hunter Parker, Golf Pro. Hunter & other staff members went above & beyond to make our tournament a success. Leadership changes need to be made in my opinion. It was mentioned by Jaime Perkins the course loss money as a result of our group's slow play! Wow!! Enough said. Don't waste your money or time playing this course until changes have been made within the leadership at this course!! Mayor Hal McMillan did listen to my concerns. I appreciate his time but pretty much attempted to smooth over the concerns I brought to his attention. Our group will spend our hard earned money with the courses that appreciate us being there!!"

"I was there approximately 2 weeks ago with the Kreole Klassic. Golf cart in our group experienced a flat. No ice available at the clubhouse. And after we finished in record heat, the waitress told everyone associated with our group that we had to go outside to eat and drink...after everyone was already inside eating and drinking. (She was lucky no one embarrassed her in the moment.)"

Navigating Course Conditions and Maintenance
Maintenance of golf carts has been a recurring point of concern in recent reviews. Issues such as flat tires and weak batteries have been reported, leading to delays and frustration for players, particularly during tournaments. While the course hosts numerous tournaments, the management's approach to these issues and customer service has drawn criticism from some groups. It's advisable to inquire about the condition of the carts before your round and to be patient if issues arise.
Despite these potential drawbacks, many golfers still find the National Golf Club of Louisiana to be a worthwhile destination. The natural beauty of the Louisiana landscape provides a pleasant backdrop, and the course layout itself is often praised for its playability and challenge. For those who manage expectations regarding cart availability and are prepared for potentially variable course conditions, a round here can still be a rewarding experience.
Understanding Customer Service and Management
Several reviews detail negative experiences where tournament participants felt treated as an inconvenience rather than valued customers. This has included issues with basic amenities like ice availability and, in some instances, outright refusal of service at the clubhouse restaurant. One particularly concerning account describes a group being told to eat outside in extreme heat after a long round, which was perceived as unprofessional and exclusionary. These experiences have led some groups to vow not to return until leadership changes are made.
It's important for potential visitors, especially those planning group events or tournaments, to be aware of these reported customer service challenges. While the course itself may offer a good golfing experience, the interactions with management can significantly impact the overall visit. Checking recent reviews and perhaps calling ahead to gauge current service levels might be a prudent step before booking.

Beyond the technical aspects of the game, the natural surroundings of the course contribute significantly to the overall experience. Set within the picturesque Louisiana landscape, golfers can expect scenic views that enhance the ambiance of their round. This blend of challenging play and natural beauty is a key draw for many visitors.
Whether you're a seasoned golfer looking for a competitive round or a casual player seeking a pleasant day on the links, the National Golf Club of Louisiana aims to deliver. The 'Cajun personality with a Texas flair' mentioned by visitors hints at a unique regional charm that complements the golfing experience.
