"Just an awesome place in Plymouth Co. !! I recommend driving Butcher Rd. and stopping periodically to take in the sights and sounds. The views from the top at the Aalfs Family Preserve are stunning !! No hiking is allowed in the bison area, but there is a trail at the nearby Stevenson Preserve. The view from the top of that trail is fantastic !! There are also trails at the old Girl Scout Camp, Camp Joy Hollow that is nearby and also controlled by the Nature Conservancy."

"Amazing side drive off the Loess National Scenic Byway. Well worth the time (and if you’re lucky, see the buffalo herd."

Rad Decker

"This is the perfect little getaway to enjoy some nature. To be honest I was looking for hiking trails during my trip and I didn't see any. Perhaps I missed it. But I did the drive all the way around around sunset (recommended) and just kind of pulled off to the side of the road when I wanted to stop and look at things. I didn't ever see any designated parking to indicate a trailhead nearby either. Anywho! I saw turkey, tons of different birds, a beautiful pond/lake? With an array of wildlife just living life. There were horses along the drive too and one ran alongside me which was super cool. (Someone's horse - not a wild one). Cool either way.
There is an area that you can enter for the visitor book. I knew from the other reviews to be on the lookout for this. It had a couple benches and a CUTE mailbox and visitor log you can sign. I signed of course. I recommend a visit. I saw another car or two. Pretty empty out there so you can take in the views and fresh air and hear the nature around you.

One star off bc WHERE was the hiking?!"
