What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Camassia Natural Area is a cherished local preserve, particularly praised for its stunning spring wildflower blooms and the Nature Conservancy's restoration efforts. Visitors appreciate the diverse landscapes and the chance to see native flora and fauna, like Ospreys. However, some find the trail marking inconsistent and parking unusual, with occasional issues of litter detracting from the beauty.
"Parking is a bit strange, compared to what I was expecting! Just a small gravel patch at the end of a street. You might think you’re in the wrong spot, but there’s a bit of helpful signage especially once you enter the tree-line. The path was very narrow, and some of the routes that veered off the main trail weren’t as well labeled. I’m glad I had a map on my phone that showed I was going off trail, because it’s easy to get down the wrong way!
Aside from that, it was a lovely trail! Partially shaded, with areas that are open. An Osprey nest is atop a communications(?) tower, and you may hear the big birds calling nearby."

"This would be a cute place to take small children who are just learning how to hike, if not for all the broken glass and confetti some inconsiderate people left all over the trail at the best viewpoint, which overlooks a busy freeway. I'm not sure if I missed the wildflower bloom or if I was a little early. I came the first week of May and didn't see many flowers, although there were a lot that were just budding. This is basically just a really small nature preserve behind a high school. I hiked through all of it in like fifteen minutes without any water."

"Perfect walk with well marked paths and a fantastic variety of landscapes. Mostly boardwalk so rarely gets muddy. No dogs allowed."
