What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Comedy Store offers an iconic and legendary stand-up experience, with many praising the chance to see both established and rising comedians. However, the cost of drinks and the strict phone policy are common points of contention for some visitors.
"Had a great night in the original room. There were a bunch of comics lined up. I didn't know any of them, but some of them were touring the country with their sets. All of them had bits that made the room laugh, and none bombed, but I've seen better stand-up.
As we left the building, there was a huge queue to the main room, and I get the feeling we should have chosen that instead.
You can buy tickets online in advance. They check your bags and do a security check at the entrance. Your phone is put into a bag you cannot open, but you keep it in your possession. 2 drink minimum (can be non-alcoholic). The drinks on the patio where we waited for the show to start were wayyy too boozy, but at least we could sit and people watch.
Iconic experience, but on the expensive side. 4 drinks ran up to $70 including tips, and then comes the ticket price on top."

"Always always a great time at The Store. You’re required to lock your your phones before you head in which is a newer thing. Parking is always a challenge so be conscious of this. Don’t heckle and be kind and you’ll have a great time - the artists are working their craft and deserve your respect. Have fun!"

"Legendary establishment on the Sunset Strip with two rooms to catch some comedic action and a bar with a view of the street to check out the scene passing by. A number of legends have graced the stage, all with their names on the building.
Went for a show called 12 Headliners that had only one name I could recognize, Chris Spencer but was still cool to be back in the iconic space."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
If you are considering bringing older teens, it's best to research the specific comedians performing that night. Some shows might be more family-friendly than others, but it's rare for a typical stand-up set at The Comedy Store to be entirely free of adult themes. The phone lock-up policy also means kids won't be able to use their devices during the show.
💰 Budget Travelers
To save on transportation, consider using public transport or carpooling if you're traveling with friends. Parking fees can add up quickly on the Sunset Strip. Look for weekday shows as they might be slightly less expensive and less crowded than weekend performances, offering a more intimate experience at a potentially lower cost.
🌟 Comedy Aficionados
Embrace the phone lock-up policy as a way to fully immerse yourself in the performance without distractions. Understand that you might see a comedian having an off night, but that's part of the authentic experience of seeing comics hone their craft. Don't miss the chance to experience a piece of comedy history and perhaps discover your next favorite comedian.
