Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the unique charm and affordability of Alaska Live Steamers, particularly the scenic miniature train ride through detailed Alaskan scenes. While the volunteer-run nature adds character, it can lead to unpredictable operating hours, and mosquito repellent is essential for comfort. Despite these minor drawbacks, it's considered a memorable and worthwhile experience for all ages.
"Very unique attraction for children and adults alike - if you like trains, this is your place. It is not much of a traditional museum, rather a 45-minute ride on a miniature train through the Forrest with miniature towns and sites that mimic the Alaska Railroad. A lot of work and detail put into this attraction!
Recommend arriving at opening time, and bring your mosquito spray - the bugs are aggressive. But fun will be had by all that ride.👍🏻"

"Giving 3 stars as I'm sure it's great! I appreciate that it's run by volunteers.
We didn't have opportunity to visit as the gate was closed when we arrived at 12:30 pm.
The website said it was open till 4 pm.
Very disappointed that the website isn't updated with current opening times. I did call 3 times before we left Anchorage with the grandkids. It would have been nice if there was a recording with current open times."

"Love it! So fun.... years ago. Now we can't seem to catch them open. We have driven from Anchorage several times when the site said Open, but they were closed, again.
I recommend calling first, though we haven't been able to get an answer. Maybe closed for the year?"

Embracing the Alaskan Outdoors
Mosquitoes are frequently mentioned as being a significant factor, especially during the warmer summer months. Reviewers strongly advise bringing effective mosquito repellent to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience. While the forested areas offer some natural shade during the ride, open areas might be exposed to the sun, so consider sun protection as well.
