"Outstanding in every way! Make time to stop here for a beautiful walk and a step back in time. If you go on a Monday or Tuesday you will miss the star museum and Barrington dog trot home but will still be able to see the old town, walking trails and brand new visitors center.

The visitors center was beautiful and educational. Great selection of Texas history books and Texan gifts. The immersive introduction video was really well done.

They are still working on the old town buildings but plenty to see. Map for walking trails all around. Playground for kids. Great place to stretch your legs, maybe have a picnic (every day) and even see a dog trot home (Wed -Sun)! I remember coming here 42 years ago on a school trip and it’s even better now."

Donna Van Eerden

"The recent improvements made by the Texas Historical Commission truly bring this site to life. It's easy to envision what it was like in the days that lead to the formation of the Texas Republic. We enjoyed walking the old townsite and seeing indoor exhibits. There's something for both children and adults. The gift shop has many unique items."

Jeff Vaughan

"I went to this lovely state historical site back in March of this year and as someone who's interested in Texas history this place has done and is doing a wonderful job with keeping an important remnant of Texas History as a once state capital. Always will think about possibly revisiting this soon as I wasn't able to back then due to some renovations but regardless still a wonderful sight to see!"
