What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally praise Falls Lake State Recreation Area for its natural beauty, diverse recreational opportunities, and family-friendly atmosphere. Many appreciate the extensive hiking trails and water activities. However, some note that campsite leveling can be challenging, and occasional maintenance issues are present.
"Disclosure, we were there only a short period (one night). I was thinking 3/5 stars but went with 4 because of the short period we were there and it seems like it has great potential. I noticed many sites were not very level. If you have a rig, be prepared to perform advanced leveling procedures. That said, some sites were nice and level. Some sites are lake view and very nice. There is a swimming area and boat ramp. There was some evidence of maintenance needed. A handrail in our sire (A24) was missing and the faucet to our water had a small crack and sprayed water whenever on.
The campground has three loops of campsites. Loops A&B have water and electric hookups, while loop C does not.
I jogged in the morning and it was pretty hilly. But it gave me the opportunity to see all of the campsites. They were diverse from super to challenging. Best to get a recommendation on a site. We don’t recommend A24. It was listed as a pull through but was much safer to back in."

"All facilities are well-maintained and clean. We reserved picnic area 3 and it was big enough for 30 people. It has an on-site grill and a few covered waste bins. It is 5 minutes away from the beach but the road is unpaved."
Juyoung Lee
"Campsite 88 at Holly Point campground was perfect for us. Not near the lake, but near the bathhouse. Well kept grounds and quiet neighbors. Having a boat landing right in the camping areas was ideal."
