Trail: Almost entirely natural with loose rocks and dirt. No real shade/cover and the trail is the most steep at the beginning. It’s pretty clearly marked and easy to follow too. There’s a pillbox at the top past where it looks like the trail ends which is nice. If you are uncomfortable with heights I could see this part not being great since the trail narrows but it’s entirely optional. Views of the leeward side are breathtaking.
Gear: Bring water and sunscreen or other stuff if you burn easy. Spikes, poles, or anything like that probably aren’t needed unless you went after it rained."

When you see the small smooth food truck, you can park nearby — the trail entrance is basically right there. Super easy to find once you know that tip.
Trail Conditions:
Some sections are a bit steep, so I wouldn’t recommend going during or right after rain. I did see a few younger kids, maybe around 5–6 years old, make it to the top, so it’s definitely not extremely difficult. But I still think it can be challenging for seniors and for some younger kids, depending on their comfort level. For most adults and teenagers, it should be no problem.
