What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Curry Creek Preserve is praised as a surprisingly wonderful spot for a quick nature break, offering well-maintained trails and a peaceful escape from urban life. Visitors appreciate its accessibility for short walks and the chance to see native Florida flora and birdlife. However, the limited shade, lack of restrooms, and strict 'no pets' policy are noted drawbacks.
"This is a great (surprisingly so) place to take a quick 30-40 min break in nature. Perfect for someone who doesn’t have time to drive to larger and more dedicated area for hiking. Until recently, this was listed as closed on Google maps, which is a shame because maybe people didn’t know about it. You will feel like you are away and not in the middle of a busy part of Venice when back here. A hidden secret. The trails are well-defined and clearly marked, and there are a couple of benches if needed for resting. This side is 100x better to visit than Curry Creek West. Unfortunately dogs aren’t allowed though. There is a small parking area with a few spots for cars, though it is easy to miss seeing the entrance on your first time by."

"Wide and maintained trails through quiet preserve. Take a picture of map and follow trail markers. About a 30 minute walk around perimeter. Parking is limited and you need to use neighbors driveway to enter parking area off of Pinebrook. No restrooms and NO PETS !"

"Sarasota County has done a wonderful job preserving a lot of the traditional Florida Nature. Many of these preserves we drive by everyday and have no idea what they are, how big the are, etc. that was Curry Creek for me! I signed up and participated in an eco-walk through the University of Florida extension office. We were with a small group and hiked through the preserve led by an amazing Ethnobiologist. There are so many wild native plants growing here! There is a ton of wildlife and it’s just a beautiful place to relax and enjoy nature. Next time you are driving by one of the Sarasota County parks and you haven’t been, take 10 minutes to just walk into the entrance and see what you find. You will be pleasantly surprised!"
