Reviews Summary

Travelers praise the Vallejo Ferry Terminal for its scenic and stress-free commute to San Francisco, offering a relaxing alternative to driving. The onboard amenities and waterfront views are highlights, though concerns about parking security and occasional reports of rats have been noted.

"Between driving, casual carpooling, driving+BART, drive+bus+BART, the ferry has everything beat for what you get for your money. As of today, it'll cost you $10.40 one-way with a Clipper Card.

You may buy a ticket onboard with cash or credit.
5 morning departures during the weekdays will certainly accommodate everyone. On time, everytime departures. Rough weather may cause some slowdowns but those are days I-80 or BART suffer too.

Remember it's first-come-first-served, plus regulations dictate everyone has to have a life saver. So everyone gets a seat... if you never travelled before show up 20 min. before departure until you get comfortable. When the boat is at max capacity (275-349 people depending on the vessel) doors close and you will be prohibited from boarding even if you are next in line. On the plus side, you'll never rub elbows with anybody.

Once inside, you'll find seats with tray tables, solo seats, 2 and 3 row seats. Tables for 4, 6 and even 8 passengers. Power outlets throughout. A coffee/snack/alcohol bar (cash only), an outter deck with amazing views and more seats, 3 bathrooms or more, windows throughout.

If the splashing and morning sun doesn't put you to sleep, feel free to catch up on work or update your status. No one takes your stuff (where can they run with it?), and everyone respects and gives ample space to everyone.

In the afternoon gaze at I-80 all jammed up while you sip a beer in the outter viewing area with the warm summer air. Then return inside to follow on a group's poker game.

You will arrive SF or Vallejo relaxed and rested. There is no competition to this mode of transportation.

The chartered game vessels require a separate review as they are reserved, unique and no alcohol can be sold after the game. ;)"

"The Ferry Building has my favorite coffee shop in it as well as a top room, so it's a social hangout spot while you wait for the ferry to arrive. I've only used the ferry itself once, and it was an easy experience. It can get EXTREMELY busy, so make sure to give yourself plenty of time.

My favorite thing about the ferry building? THE VIEWS. The whole area is beautiful. It's right across the water from Mare Island, which make for beautiful scenery. Make sure to stay and walk around and enjoy the waterfront."

Ashley

"Can’t complain, fast, efficient , and quiet boat, only thing I can add is that they should and NEED to clean the windows so we can actually see out to the ocean"
