What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the beautiful, secluded dual waterfalls at Rock Creek Falls, calling the hike challenging but incredibly rewarding. While the steep terrain and creek crossings require preparation, the peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty make it a worthwhile adventure for those seeking a strenuous outdoor experience.
"Perfect day for a hike. The slight incline of the trail is well worth it as the fall is small but peaceful and secluded. Busy trail and several people bring their dogs. Moderate trail rating as younger children may need to stop for breaks."
Jason Preece
"So, the first thing noting about this hike is it's intensity. Starting out it is very pleasant and very misleading. Most of this hike will be at a strict 45° angle and is honestly probably the most physically demanding hike in the Tri-Cities area. Yes, even worse than the dreaded Laurel Falls Stone Stairway. The trail marker states the distance is 2 miles although I find that to be questionable. Seemed more like 3 or 4 but maybe it was just the lack of oxygen in the air from all the elevation gain intensifying things and slowing down time. With that being said, the hike is a gorgeous one and worth the effort if you can spare it. One good thing about the hike is that you are rarely getting hit with direct sunlight and is relatively cool in temperature. The real reward this hike has to offer is that there are actually two waterfalls you will come across on this hike and both can be walk up to and can be used to cool off in. The final waterfall has a very unique feel/spacing to it and feels very welcoming and cozy. It feels like make the perfect spot to grab a couple friends and have a grill-out & hammock camping adventure at... If you can get a grill up there xp"

Essential Gear: Due to the terrain and multiple creek crossings (up to four times to reach the lower falls), water-resistant hiking shoes are non-negotiable. These will provide better grip and keep your feet drier. Wearing moisture-wicking clothing is also advisable to manage sweat during the strenuous climb. Bringing plenty of water is crucial, as you'll need to stay hydrated throughout the demanding trek. Consider packing high-energy snacks to keep your stamina up.
Community Insights: Travelers on Reddit emphasize the importance of being well-prepared. One user noted their wife's iWatch recorded an 850' elevation rise to the lower falls, highlighting the significant vertical challenge. While demanding, the reward of reaching the secluded waterfalls and enjoying the wilderness is widely considered worth the effort for those who are adequately prepared.
Discovering the Dual Waterfalls
For those who push further, the upper falls are said to be even more impressive. Reaching this second cascade requires continued effort but offers a unique feel and spacing, making it feel particularly welcoming and cozy.
