What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking panoramic views from the Pinnacle Mountain Fire Tower, calling it 'absolutely beautiful' and 'worth the trip.' The well-maintained trails and tower structure are also highlighted positives. However, the challenging nature of Firetower Road for standard vehicles and the steepness of the final ascent are common points of caution.
"A well maintained and marked trail. Good parking and a bathroom facility at the trailhead. A lot of elevation gain over about 4.7 miles from parking lot to top of tower. Absolutely beautiful views, especially from the fire tower. This is not any easy hike, but well worth it."

"This is an excellent trail and is moderately difficult. You can access it from two locations (unicoi county side at the trail head and the firetower road side. It you go to the trailhead it is about a 5 mile hike up the mountain. If you go to the firetower road side you can drive up to a parking lot and walk the rest of the way. It is not recommended for low to the ground cars because there are a few pot holes and gully's along the way. Beware there can be Atv, motorcycle, and other 4x4 traffic on firetower road. The view from on top the firetower is worth the trip."

"We are new to the area and our neighbors brought us. We opted for the drive up with a short walk. I have a front wheel drive SUV so in some spots it was slow going. Remember you are driving up a mountain so you are on a gravel and in some spots very rocky mountain road. Once you make it to the end of the line for vehicles it's about a 30-40 min walk to the tower, now this is with children and us who just moved from FL and are use to FLAT ground. But all and all for someone who is not use to wallking/hiking in this type of area it wasn't horrible. There are two different spots where there is a good inkline walking up the road. The walk up the stairs at the tower wad easy and it's sturdy. The walk down was a little more nerve wracking as the stairs are not as wide. None the less everyone made it to the top and and back down. It was well worth it, the views were stunning. I will never get over the beauty of where we now call home."
