Reviews Summary

Guests rave about the TWA Hotel's unique retro design, convenient airport location, and the unforgettable experience of dining in a vintage airplane. The rooftop pool with runway views is a major highlight. However, some find the rooms lacking in practical amenities and the service to be typical of NYC.

"I have a love/hate relationship with this place. Stayed numerous times. The location is great. The hotel is a niche hotel, very cool history and they did a nice job renovating it and keeping the unique aspects. However the in room experience comes up short. Just small items like having no trash can, no closet, no iron (steamer is provided). The motorized blinds while a nice idea are not built to withstand the beating. Beds are fine, bathroom is fine for the most part. A/C is weak, can be difficult to get the room cooled down if you like it 65-66. Rooms facing the airport road are prone to noise in the morning. Service is meh, typical NYC. Pay extra for a late checkout but your key doesn't work past noon, stuff like that. Wish they would put a crosswalk in, could cut the walk time to terminal 4 in half."

"I recently stayed at TWA with family after we had a flight cancelled and had to stay in New York overnight. We were exhausted at that point and didn’t want to have to venture far when our rescheduled flight was at 6 am. The location is so convenient. Took just a couple minutes to walk from Terminal 5. The signage makes it super easy to find. It cost about $500 for three of us. The room was actually pretty nice. Bedding and everything was clean. I loved the vintage style of decor and they have a lot of shops to explore. There’s a 24 hr food court which is handy for early or late flights. They don’t offer Room Service, but the staff were all quite friendly. Overall a positive experience. Definitely a good option for long layovers."

Hannah Newberry

"TWA Hotel was such a fun and memorable stay. Self check-in and check-out were absolutely seamless, quick, easy, and zero hassle. There’s no room service, but you can purchase whatever you need and take it back to your room, plus the building has plenty of food options to choose from, so it never felt like an inconvenience.

The Connie Lounge was definitely a unique experience. It does have a bit of a strange smell, but that’s expected given the age of the aircraft and the foot traffic. Still, it’s a cool piece of history and worth checking out. The entire hotel is actually bursting with history, and it was nice to slow down and take it all in.

We stayed in a runway-view room, and that was truly the cherry on top. Despite being right by the action, we weren’t disturbed at all, the glass is thick enough that you get the views without the noise. The room and amenities were clean, the bed was comfortable, and everything felt well taken care of.

The observation deck and pool were closed for winterizing, which was a bit disappointing, but understandable, there’s always next time.

Overall, a great stay and a really cool experience for anyone who enjoys a mix of comfort, convenience and history."
