A hidden gem in Yosemite! The Glen Aulin trailhead is located at Tuolumne Meadows, roughly a 75-minute drive from Yosemite Valley. From the trailhead to the Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp, it’s about 5.5 miles one way, but the first 4 miles to the footbridge are relatively easy, with minimal elevation change (less than 100 feet). The well-marked trail winds through towering pines, open meadows, and g...

"The trail was easy to follow and the views were absolutely breathtaking, with panoramic vistas of towering mountains and lush valleys. The weather was ideal, not too hot or cold, and the trail wasn't crowded at all. It was the perfect way to start our Yosemite adventure and get a taste of the park's natural beauty. Highly recommend!"

"Absolutely loved this trail. We did an S shaped trail by combining it along with the lower Yosemite falls trail. We rode the green line shuttle to stop 6 for lower Yosemite falls, did the full falls trail, which ends on "accessible" side ( right side on map) at the trailhead for cook's. This trail ends right outside the Yosemite village. Easy walk to the village. This trail was suggested by the different at the welcome center. Thanks Elrah."

Eric W

"The open meadow allows for great views of the surrounding mountains, including half dome."

Best Times to Visit for Scenery and Crowds

The visual appeal of Sentinel Meadow shifts dramatically with the seasons, offering unique experiences throughout the year. Spring (April-June) is arguably the most spectacular time, with the meadows bursting into bloom with vibrant wildflowers and Yosemite Falls roaring at its peak. This is also a popular time, so expect moderate crowds. Instagram+1

Autumn (September-October) brings a different kind of beauty, as the surrounding deciduous trees turn shades of gold and red, creating a warm, picturesque landscape. While the waterfalls may be less powerful, the fall colors offer a stunning contrast to the granite cliffs. Crowds tend to be lower than in summer. Instagram

Summer (July-August) is the busiest season, and while the meadows are green, the waterfalls can be significantly diminished or even dry. The weather is generally warm and pleasant, but the high volume of visitors can make the trails feel crowded. Winter offers a serene, snow-covered landscape, but access to the meadows and trails may be limited due to snow. TikTokReddit
