Reviews Summary
Trout Lake is celebrated for its stunning alpine beauty and rewarding, albeit moderately challenging, hike. Visitors rave about the magnificent vistas, vibrant wildflowers, and the unique opportunity to witness trout spawning. While fishing can be difficult, the natural spectacle and serene atmosphere make it a highly recommended stop for nature lovers and photographers.
"Beautiful lake at the top of a short moderately strenuous hike! The views are absolutely stunning. The lake does have trout in it, (hence the name) but they were not the easiest to catch for us anyway. Definitely a must see if you can get up to it!"
Joshua Thurman
"Wonderful short but steep trail in Lamar Valley brings you to an idyllic mountain lake that is a worthwhile stop. Get there early to catch the lake at its most still. The wildflowers are stunning on the north side of the lake."

"My review and picts are from my trip in Aug. 2019.
I did the "Trout Lake Trail", walked around the lake and even further higher up. So loved this trail and nature at the Lake ❤️ At the beginning of the trail you have to take a rather steep path (not too long!) but once at the Lake it's practically all at the same level. Since I'm a lower-back patient I'm always looking for trails which aren't too steep/difficult so I can really recommend this one. Even with (small) children you'll enjoy it.
Now to the Lake itself : magnificent vistas, definitely during a sunny day with blue skies! Being at one side of the Lake we saw a black bear passing at the opposite side of the Lake. Enjoyed it to bits!! Sorry no picts of the black bear.. 😕
I highly recommend this trail and Lake 😍👌"
