What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Kansas Museum of History for its moving exhibits, particularly those detailing the 'Wild West' and the hardships of the Dust Bowl. Many highlight its engaging nature for families and its overall quality as a historical institution. While some mention renovations, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many calling it a favorite museum.
"I visited the Kansas Museum of History and was moved by the history of this area. I learned that Kansas was actually the "Wild West" we saw in the cowboy western movies. The United States was in a time of terrible transition. I read actual letters written by Kansas Mothers to the President of the United States begging for some type of assistance. The Dust Bowl and the Great Depression took its toll causing death and destruction. Children were dying of starvation; families had to abandon their farms and move to cities to survive. It was a terrible time in US history. It you like history, this is the real deal!"

"Used to come here a lot with the family (had an annual membership for several years) and we were very sad to hear of it closing. A beautiful place to walk around, staff were wonderful and the exhibits were quite grand. I am glad to see in the comments that it looks to be open again (even if limited times)."

"One of the best museums I have ever been to. Glad I stopped in here. Edit: 5 years later and I still feel the same way. My favorite museum and I've been to a lot of them in so many states. Sad to learn that it will be remodeled and done over but I would be excited to see it when it gets finished. Great facility and great experience. Highly recommend!"
